SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognised for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.

SGAC is proud to present the SGAC June 2015 Members of the Month: Carmen Felix, Outgoing SGAC National Point of Contact for Mexico

For the last 4 years Carmen was the National Point of Contact for Mexico, representing SGAC in national events, strengthening the relationship between SGAC and the Mexican Space Agency and organizing SGAC conferences in different universities. During her time within SGAC, she has done several activities as coordinating scholarships and competitions like the IAASS-SGAC, and IAASS-Space Safety Magazine, as well as being part of the organizing team for SGC 2012. She is also member of the Space Safety and Sustainability group.

She holds a MSc. in Space Science from the International Space University in Strasbourg, France, and a BSc. In Electronics and Communications from ITESM in Mexico.

She is part of the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety, and is the leader of the Aerospace Chapter in the Mexican Talent Network in the Netherlands. Carmen has been a member of the core team for the Space Safety Magazine, the quarterly print magazine and a daily news website, jointly published by the International Association for Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) and the International Space Safety Foundation (ISSF).

Carmen participated in the Rio Tinto Mars Analog Mission in 2011, Mars Analog Mission during the World Space Week 2013, and is organizing the next AMADEE-15 Mars Analog Mission this year with the Austrian Space Forum.

Carmen is passionate about space exploration and human spaceflight. She has experience in telecommunication and satellite technology within the private industry and NASA Ames.

Alejandro Cordova Lopez, NPoC Mexico, nominated Carmen:

Carmen's efforts in the last four years have helped this organization grow. Also, she instructed me pretty well when I was starting my duties as the new NPoC for Mexico. I do think that Carmen is a t strong young professional in the space community and has demonstrated her capabilities with her activities as part of SGAC.

Here's Carmen's reaction:

"Thanks for this recognition, I feel honored to be acknowledged among SGAC members. SGAC is a very special group for me, it has been always an inspiration and a way to inspire young students in my home country. I love to work with so many brilliant people from all around the world, this is always teamwork, and I am looking forward to keep doing awesome things inside SGAC."

From the SGAC co-Chair, Stephanie Wan:

"Carmen Felix has been a great representative and mentor to SGAC members as the NPoC of Mexico. With the SGC and IAC coming to Mexico next year, we know we will be in good hands when the SGC LoC is formed! Congrats Carmen and keep up the amazing work representing SGAC in the space sector!"
