SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognized for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.
SGAC is proud to present the SGAC August 2015 Member of the Month: Bruno Sarli, Regional Coordinator for South America
After graduating in aeronautics in Brazil and space engineering in Europe, Bruno moved to Japan where he has been working in astrodynamics for the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency. During this time, he worked in different mission with the latest launched last year.
Bruno has been with SGAC since 2012 when he was elected NPoC Brazil. After his term, he took the role of Regional Coordinator in South America and together with the South American team organized the first South American Space Generation Congress held in Buenos Aires.
Bruno received two nominations, one from his colleague Marco Antonio Cabero, Regional Coordinator (South America):
“Bruno showed great dedication and effort organizing the first South American Workshop. He has motivated and supported SGAC in the South America region during the past two years I have been involved with SGAC, first as an NPoC and now as RC.”
The other nomination was from the SGAC Chair, Victoria Alonsoperez:
“Bruno has been a very active member since he joined SGAC. First he was Brazil NPoC and then took over the South American Region when I left the position. During his time as RC, he has done an amazing job. He has engaged with all the South American NPoCs and they have created a paper on the South American space activities. He also organized the first South American Space Generation Workshop, which was a complete success with participants from all over the region.”
Here's Bruno's reaction:
"It is a great honor to receive this nomination and to be recognize for the work being done in the South America region. I gratefully accept this on behalf of the South America and the SA-SGW teams, without their efforts all that has been done so far would not be possible. SGAC is my passion, and it is a pleasure working with everybody around the world."
From the SGAC Executive Director, Minoo Rathnasabapathy:
"It is my pleasure to congratulate Bruno on being selected Member of the Month. Bruno is one of our most active members of SGAC and his contributions have been invaluable. Bruno recently lead the team along with fellow RC (South America), Marco Cabero to organize the South American Space Generation Workshop (SA-SGW), the first in the regional series of SGAC events in South America with a focus on pertinent topics in the region.
In addition Bruno has lead the team to write the SA-SGW report, and SGAC South American regional paper for the 66th IAC. We are extremely thankful for his dedication and commitment to SGAC."
