SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognized for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.
SGAC is proud to present the SGAC November 2015 Member of the Month: Jan Svoboda, SGC 2015 Congress Manager
Jan Svoboda is a Czech electrical engineer, born in Tabor, Czech Republic. He currently lives and works in Darmstadt, Germany. Jan is a system engineer for end-to-end instrument chains on EPS-SG programme at EUMETSAT. Previously, Jan was a systems engineer on Modular X- and Gamma- Ray Sensor (MXGS) of the Atmosphere-Space Interactions Monitor (ASIM) at Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby. His professional experience includes various engineering and business related positions within the space industry as well as within academia. Jan is focused on space related engineering activities, especially systems engineering and project management. Jan is a co-lead of Space Generation Advisory Council Commercial $pace Project Group. He received Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby, in August 2011 and Bachelor of Science in Control Systems and Cybernetics from Czech Technical University in Prague, in June 2009. During his bachelor studies he spent one year at Milwaukee School of Engineering as a visiting student.
Jan was nominated by Shreya Santra, one of our Web Editor;
“This SGAC member needs no mention. All those who were participated in the SGC 2015 inevitably noticed the effort Jan had put in to make it a successful event. As the first SGC Congress Manager, he did a phenomenal job- right from sending important mails to all the delegates, organizing and planning each event in the program. He was a perfect mix of seriousness and humor, and an inspiration for new SGAC members like me.”
Here's Jan's reaction:
"It is an honour to be nominated as SGAC Member of the Month. I had a great time, and learnt a lot from organising the 14th Space Generation Congress. The success of the event would not have been possible without the SGC Organising team, and in particular NPoCs of Israel, Daniel and Yevgeny. Over several months, countless team meetings and approximately 1 billion emails, I am proud of what we were able to achieve during the 3 day congress."
From the SGAC co-Chair, Victoria Alonsoperez:
"Jan has done a fantastic job organizing the SGC 2015. He has very good leadership and organizational skills that were very important to make SGC 2015 a complete success. He was on top of every detail and made sure that everything was set up on time. He has also done a great job as part of the strategic partnerships team fundraising for the SGC. "
