SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognized for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.
SGAC is proud to present the SGAC August Member of the Month: Lindsey Yee (USA), PR and Communications team (Social Media).
Lindsey Yee (USA)
Lindsey Yee is located in the Silicon Valley where she is focused on identifying innovative new space start-ups. Previously, she worked at NASA Ames Research Center as a Project Coordinator and Resource Analyst on the Intelligent Systems Research and Development Support contract, helped found the Silicon Valley Space Business Roundtable, and was a part of NASA Ames’s organizing team for the International Space University’s Space Studies Program and Singularity University’s inaugural Graduate Studies Program. Lindsey is a graduate of the International Space University where she completed her Masters in Space Studies and participated in the joint Space Studies Program between NASA Kennedy Space Center and Florida Institute of Technology. As an undergraduate at Boston University, she majored in International Relations Business and Economics in East Asia with a minor in Business Administration and Management.
Lindsey Yee was nominated by Ali Nasseri, SGAC Co-Chair:
“In the past months, we have learned much more about our social media channels efficacy and how to better highlight SGAC activities on these channels. This would not have been possible without the great activity of Lindsey who has been the powerhouse behind our social media posts, and of course the coordination of Reinhard as our PR coordinator.
I think Lindsey's contributions to our social media profile are worthy of recognition through the MoM program.”
Here's Lindsey's reaction:
“I'm not sure who nominated me for MOM, but thanks to whoever you are! SGAC is a great organization that has had a huge influence on my career in the Space Industry since I first attended SGC back in 2009. I wouldn't be where I am today without the encouragement and support of SGAC and all of my fellow members...So thanks guys! And remember: #spacegen.”
From the SGAC Co-Chair, Stephanie Wan:
“I've known Lindsey for quite a number of years now and I have seen her grow and take on various tasks in SGAC. The task of being our social media coordinator was a new role and she took it on with an immense level of responsibility. We now have a great social media presence because of her! Thanks for all the great work!!”
