SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognized for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.

SGAC is proud to present the SGAC December Member of the Month: Dr. Shashank Khurana.

Shashank was nominated by Shripad Jagdale (India), NPoC India:

“I am pleased to nominate Shashank as member of the month, because I have found he is efficient and unfailingly punctual during the organization and execution of the 3rd Asia-Pacific Space Generation Workshop (AP-SGW 2016) in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines.

His support has been a key role in this activity, motivating the students in different universities to join the event from the 9 countries in Asia Pacific. I believe these characteristics represent what we state in the SGAC, and I am pleased to nominate him as member of the month.

Here's Shashank's reaction:

I am happy as well as humbled on being selected as the SGAC Member of the month for December 2016. It has been a great learning experience working with different colleagues for various SGAC events, and getting appreciated for the same. I am pleased to contribute my bit towards achieving the objectives of this great organisation SGAC as a member in becoming the global voice of next-generation of students and young professional in the Space Sector. Hereby, I would like to thank Shripad Jagdale for nominating me, the SGAC Executive committee for selecting me and all the colleagues for their kind support and assistance throughout, and looking forward to continue working with them.

From SGAC Chair, Stephanie Wan:

"It was a privilege for me to attend and witness the success of the 3rd AP-SGW in Manila! Shashank, with strong support from former AP-SGW Manager, Zihua Zhu, as well as an amazing local organising team, really put on an amazing event that included regional speakers and even a JAXA astronaut! Furthermore, over 90% of the participants have never been to an SGAC event before, making it a successful outreach impact in the region, especially for the Filipino students who decided to go to APRSAF day after day afterwards, inspired by AP-SGW. I have seen the endless amount of work put into executing the regional event over the past year, and it is truly a well deserved recognition!"
