SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognized for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.
SGAC is proud to present the SGAC April Member of the Month: Shreya Santra.
Shreya works as a graduate research scholar in Space Systems at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, Moscow. She is a space engineer with an aim to explore and innovate towards the development of future space applications for the benefits of humanity. She is also an alumna of International Space University, which introduced her to the interdisciplinary aspect of space and enriched her with diverse ideas. There, she met and networked with eminent personalities from aerospace industry and academia, which inspired her to follow her passion and work collaboratively with people from around the world. She has been an SGAC Web Team member since 2015 and currently manages the country page updates. Also, she recently joined the Small Satellites Working Group. She is involved in a number of space outreaches, she helped in establishing the National Space Society India Chapter (Dr. Kalam Initiatives) and organized the first ever SpaceUp in Russia in April (SpaceUp Skoltech).
Shreya was nominated by Chantelle Dubois, Space Generation Fusion Forum 2018 Manager:
“Shreya has been a long time member of the SGAC, as well as a member of the web team. This year she took the lead on organizing the country page updates for our NPoCs and did a fantastic job. This has notoriously been a task that takes a lot of effort for the web team to handle, and we sincerely appreciate she headed the effort and kept the coordinators up to date with the task.”
Here's Shreya's reaction:
"I am thrilled to be recognized as the SGAC MoM. It is a pleasure to work with SGAC members and I completely enjoy my work. Through SGAC, I have learnt a lot, it has exposed me to passionate young spacegen whom I can relate to and opened up opportunities to fulfill my dreams. I shall continue to actively contribute to make this organization even more amazing in the future!”
From SGAC Chair, Ali Nasseri:
"We tend to sometimes take for granted all the activities going on in the background to make sure SGAC achieves its goals. One such area of activity is maintaining our website. I am happy to see Shreya being selected as our member of the month. She had a vital role in leading the National Webpage updates, and more recently helped organize the first SpaceUp in Moscow. She has shown great leadership and definitely needs to be recognized for her contributions to SGAC. Well deserved Shreya!"
