SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognised for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goal.
We are proud to present the December 2011 Member of the Month: Lucie Crescenzo (NPoC for France)
After spending 4 years in Business law, she chose to specialize in space law in Paris - Sceaux University (alongside two current members of SGAC by the way), which was a great occasion for her to meet a wide range of space professionals and space fans. By being Communication representative of the IDEST, the Insititute of Space and Telecom Law, based in Paris, she was also able to spread the SGAC news. After her studies, she joined Schlumberger in Paris, but she is staying involved in the aerospace sector, and in fact, she is really impress how both sectors are quite alike.
Damian Bielicky, Regional Coordinator for Europe, nominated Lucie:
"I would like to nominate Lucie Crescenzo (NPOC for France) as the Member of the Month. I've been nominating her for the last few months hoping that finally she will be awarded. Since her appointment she was extremely active SGAC Member, promoting us in many cities in France, including major aerospace events. That brought a higher recognition of the Organisation in this country as after all I’ve been contacted by many French people who wanted to be more involved. Lucy also started a dialogue with young professionals at universities in France, especially in Paris. She also represented SGAC at IAF 60th Anniversary.
Lucie, with her own initiative, prepared a list of all space events in France. She promoted Arianespace across the globe, and even wrote an article to our Newsletter about this Organization, which was of significant importance also with the financial reasons (Arianespace is one of our Partners and sponsors). I have also heard lots of good things about her dedication and professionalism from other people from aerospace industry in different European countries. I am convinced that the reward would encourage her to even higher dedication within SGAC."
And here is our MoM Lucie’s reaction:
"Being member of the month of December 2011 means a great deal to me... it is an honour to have been nominated as a person who has achieved something (even an achievement as tiny as it may seem) in such a wonderful environment as space, especially by the SGAC members. Thank you very much and have a festive end of 2011!"
Michael Brett, SGAC Chair said:
“Congratulations to Lucie on being named SGAC’s Member of the Month for December. Lucie sets an incredible pace with her work as National Point of Contact for France promoting aerospace events across the country and within Arianespace. She is an excellent representative for SGAC, a shining example to our NPoC network and we are so pleased to highlight her fantastic work at the grass roots level in our organisation“
