SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognised for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals.
We are proud to present SGAC’s June Member of the Month: Scott Fisher
Scott Fisher is in his final year of a Bachelor in Engineering (Mechanical and Aerospace) at The University of Queensland, Australia. He has been involved with SGAC since attending the 2011 Space Generation Congress in Cape Town, and has been working as the SGAC Web Editor since January this year.
Closer to home, he has worked with the Australian Youth Aerospace Association, organising the Australian Youth Aerospace Forum, and Australian outreach and educational event that promotes the aerospace industry to senior secondary students. In between his studies and extra-curricular activities, Scott has worked as an intern at Insitu Pacific, who produce the ScanEagle Military UAV, and at Optus Satellite Operations, the only Australian Telco to own and operate a fleet of satellites.
Ariane Cornell, SGAC Executive Director, nominated Scott:
"For the past several months, Scott has done a fantastic job effectively doing all web editing tasks. He is very proactive, effective and professional, which is crucial for the role. Without Scott’s hard work, SGAC’s website and work would effectively come to a halt. Scott really represents the attitude and reliability of the optimal SGAC volunteer."
And here is SGAC’s June Member of the Month, Scott Fisher’s, reaction:
"It was incredible to find out that I had been nominated as June's Member of the Month. I have only been with SGAC for a short time, but I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and learnt a lot at both SGC and during my time as Web Editor. I look forward to continuing my involvement with SGAC's activities in the future."
From SGAC Deputy Executive Director, Andrea Jaime:
"Scott has taken lead of the web editor team for the past couple of months, showing great responsibility on daily tasks, being quick to respond and executing urgent work, and producing good quality results. Scott has been responsible for the Space Generation Congress webpage, which has great weekly updates, and over the past month, it has been the most-visited page by our members. Scott deserves Member of the Month for all this hard work, and as encouragement for him to keep up his hard work with SGAC. Well done, Scott!"
