SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognised for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.

SGAC is proud to present the SGAC February 2014 Member of the Month: Daichi Nakamura (Japan)Daichi Nakamura

Daichi was born in Tokyo, Japan. He received the B.S. degree from Nihon University, Tokyo in aerospace engineering. During his last years at the university, he worked on his thesis project on an optimization problem of spacecrafts in Fluid Dynamics at JAXA Chofu Aerospace Center. Daichi is currently an engineer/Flight Controller in charge of fluid and thermal control system of Japan Experiment Module on International Space Station (ISS).

His biggest passion for space technologies and international relations brought him to SGAC in 2009 as a delegate of SGC in Daejeon. He has been active in SGAC as the National Point of Contact for Japan.

Yusuke Muraki, RC Asia Pacific, nominated Daichi:
Mr. Daichi Nakamura is one of the most active SGAC members in our region. He attended several SGCs himself and involved many students and young professionals in Japan to SGAC community. He also made a great contribution to realize SGC Japanese Scholarship funded by individual supporters that supported two Japanese students to go to SGC2013 in Beijing. Based on these results, I think he would be a great choice for Member of the Month.

Here is Daichi's reaction:
SGAC is awesome. The people I have interacted with have simply been incredible. SGAC has afforded me so many opportunities that I otherwise would not have been able to experience. This nomination is a great honour for me. Thank you very much SGAC! I'm proud to be part of it.

Chris Vasko, SGAC Co-Chair:
Daichi is very dedicated and passionate National Point of Contact. His choice to engage and work with potential sponsors resulted in the creation of opportunities for his fellow Japanese members. Our networks grow in strength and stability thanks of your initiative and the excellent work you have done. This nomination is very well deserved. Thank you very much and congratulations Daichi!
