SGAC and the Entrepreneurship and Investment Committee (EIC) of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) are pleased to announce the winner of the joint $pace is Business Competition 2016. The scholarship enables one outstanding SGAC member to attend the 15th Space Generation Congress and the 67th International Astronautical Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico.

 

SGAC would like to thank EIC, Ken Davidian and A. C. Charania once again for their generous continued support of SGAC and this annual scholarship.

The winner is:

Carlos Manuel Entrena Utrilla

A physicist by background, Carlos started his transition into the space industry in 2014 with the aim to work in the development of the space economy. He is working to develop his skills in strategy and business development with his project at NASA’s Space Portal, leveraging his extensive technical knowledge to better understand potential markets and business opportunities in space. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in general physics from the University of Granada (Spain), a Master of Science in particle accelerator physics from the University of Hamburg (Germany), and is currently completing the Master in Space Studies program at ISU. He speaks four languages and holds a black belt in karate.

“Winning this scholarship means the recognition of two years of hard work to redirect my career to the space industry. It will allow me to attend IAC 2016, show my work and qualifications, and help me improve my network to finally kick off my space career.”
