SGAC is proud to announce the appointments of Mitchell Scher as the Strategic Partnerships Coordinator and Florian Ruhhammer as Deputy Manager for Space Generation Congress 2017, as part of our global team of volunteers.
Mitchell Scher is a research consultant at The Wilson Center's Kissinger Institute, focusing on China's space program and commercial industry development and an Officer of Aerospace Education in the Civil Air Patrol. Mitchell brings project management and international experience to SPT, having worked in the tech industry in China for two years and graduating from the International Space University's SSP program in Haifa, Israel. Prior to moving abroad, Mitchell interned at NASA Ames Research Center's Office of International and Interagency Relations researching developing space programs in South America and Europe.
Mitchell recently presented on Space Big Data at the 2016 International Astronautical Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico and spoke on the globalization of the commercial space industry at the 2016 H100 Commercial Space Conference in Dalian, China. Mitchell received his bachelor's degree in Math and Chinese from Hamilton College and is fluent in both spoken and written Mandarin.
Florian Ruhhammer is currently working within the “Launchers Product Assurance and Safety Division” of the European Space Agency (ESA) in the frame of its Young Graduate Trainee program. Florian has a M.Sc in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bremen, Germany. He was a student research assistant for the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and Centre of Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM). Florian was an active member of the Student Experimental Rocket programme (STERN) lead by DLR, in the research of newly green propellants and propulsion systems. Florian has been appointed as part of the SGC 2016 organizing team as well as Deputy Manager for the E-SGW 2017.
