16th Space Generation Congress
University of Adelaide
SGAC has chosen the University of Adelaide to host the 16th Annual Space Generation Congress (SGC) in Adelaide, Australia. Established in 1874, the University of Adelaide is the third oldest university in Australia and contains some of Adelaide's most iconic and historically significant buildings.
The University of Adelaide is in close proximity to the Adelaide Convention Center where the 2017 International Astronautical Congress (IAC) will be held. The venue offers a high-quality auditorium (where SGC delegates will gather for the common plenary sessions), in addition to well-equipped smaller rooms (to be utilized for the Working Group sessions). The delegates will receive a catered lunch as part of the congress' daily schedule, enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the facility, and will have many networking opportunities during the congress' dinners.
Adelaide is South Australia’s cosmopolitan coastal capital. Its ring of park land on the River Torrens is home to renowned museums such as the Art Gallery of South Australia, displaying expansive collections including noted indigenous art, and the South Australian Museum, devoted to natural history. Adelaide’s Riverbank Precinct is an iconic public space and will be home to the SGC and the 2017 IAC. Offering panoramic views across the River Torrens, the North Adelaide Parklands, Adelaide Oval and beyond, it’s situated in the heart of Adelaide, South Australia. The precinct is designed to be a safe and inclusive place day and night, and a hallmark of its identity and success is a mix of activities and events, providing South Australians and visitors with the widest possible range of choices.
