SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognized for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.
SGAC is proud to present the SGAC July Member of the Month: Guzel Kamaletdinova (Russia), Outgone Regional Coordinator (RC) for Europe.
Guzel Kamaletdinova (Russia)
Guzel Kamaletdinova is currently working as an engineer for the State Research Institute of Aviation System in Moscow, Russia. Also she has experience as a research scientist for Tambov State University. Previously, she was a part of a team which was preparing and running experiments for MARS-500 project. Guzel has a Masters degree in Engineering at the State University of Aerospace Technology in Moscow (MAI), where her graduation paper received an order of the Department of Education and Science of Russia. Later she obtained a PhD degree in space safety. In 2010, she received a grant from the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) to participate in the annual International Astronautical Congress in Prague, Czech Republic and previously she was awarded Russia’s Astronautics Federation Medal. Additionally, Guzel is an alumni of the International Space University's (ISU's) 2012 25th Space Studies Programme (25th annual SSP) which was hosted by Florida Institute of Technology and Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA. Guzel has been a member of SGAC since 2010. She was elected as a NPoC for Russia and then as a RC for Europe, but together with it she was a member of SGC 2012 Delegates Team and an active participant of the Space Safety and Sustainability Working Group.
Guzel was nominated by:
Tadeusz Kocman, NPoC Poland;
Nomination: “Guzel has served an outstanding term as the SGAC Regional Coordinator for Europe. She deserves every credit for her perseverance in coordinating the organisation's activities in Europe and supporting the National Point of Contacts in their roles. Thanks for your great work!”
Joao Lousada, Regional Coordinator (RC) Europe;
Nomination: “I have met Guzel several years ago and since then, she has been one of the most active SGAC members I have met, being involved in several technical projects as well as several events and many other tasks. As her term as Europe's Regional Coordinator (RC) comes to an end, I believe that the "Member of Month" is a well deserved recognition for Guzel's multiple years of contribution for SGAC, not only as an amazing RC, but also in all her other roles."
Petter Evju Skanke, NPoC Norway;
Nomination: “She's been a great Regional Coordinator for Europe for as long as I've been an NPoC (more than one year now). Her second term is coming to an end, and it would be a great parting gift. She's kept the wheels running, and the telecoms with her (and Matteo) for both Europe as a whole and only for the NPoCs of Norway has been nice and full of great advice and recommendations for how to spread space awareness on a local level.”
Tomas Hrozensky, NPoC Slovakia;
Nomination: “Guzel has spent 2 terms as a Regional Coordinator for Europe and reception of her role as RC for Europe has been receiwed well among European NPOCs continuously throughout her time as RC. She has put a lot of effort in timely dissemination of information throughout European SGAC network and kept vivid and live community of European NPoCs throughout continuosly reaching out to us, creating connections and organizing telecoms and other meetings.”
Fredrik Persson, NPoC Sweden;

If you have any questions or concerns as an NPoC she is always ready and interested to help you! In short, she is great!”
Here's Guzel's reaction:
“It is a great honour to be selected as a Member of the Month, thank you! I feel privileged to be part of such a powerful community and I am happy to serve to our main goal - to gather people passionate about space and learning together, sharing our knowledge and experience in spite of any cultural, social, physical differences. SGAC gives an incredible opportunity for young generation to participate and contribute to the development of global space exploration, technology and policy. I would like to thank our team: all these incredible people are sharing enthusiasm, commitment and they are truly inspiring examples of dedication and professionalism!.”
From SGAC Chair, Ali Nasseri:
“Guzel has been a long term member of our team, first as NPoC Russia and later as the Regional Coordinator for Europe. During her term, we saw a continuous increase in European activities, while she also contributed to many other activities such as organization of events, activities within the SSS project group, and the selection of several team members. Thanks to her leadership and Matteo’s, SGAC now has two regular regional events, the European Space Generation Workshop and the European Student Workshop, along with various national events in the region. Her contributions to SGAC are definitely worthy of recognition, and have helped SGAC grow and proper. Well deserved Guzel!"
