Apply to become
the NPoC of Georgia

Welcome to SGAC Georgia! Georgia is a small country located on the southern slopes of the Caucasus mountains. Its government does not have a space programme and hence is not actively pursuing any space activities. And yet, its location, landscapes and some sectors of economy (including winemaking, for example) will in the long run lead to the need to utilise space technologies and applications. SGAC hopes to build a strong, community of enthusiastic young people to foster this process. We can make a difference! Join us!

Young Space Activities Overview in Georgia

The lack of space activities is a general problem, since any activities by or for youth are still quite scarce. In general, there are a few national and international projects in Georgia creating awareness. One of those is the “Building the Future” project trying to empower and to motivate young people to engage in democracy and to involve youth in diverse activities in Tbilisi and six provinces. The main goal is to build bridges with youth in Georgia's two breakaway provinces, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. UN and its specialised agencies, including UNDP and UNICEF are active in Georgia and might become a useful platform and support for SGAC activities in the country. Moreover, Georgia has an observatory, as well as engineering and earth sciences faculties at some of its best universities. These opportunities are all ways that the students and young professionals in Georgia can contribute towards one day creating a space programme in Georgia.

SGAC is currently looking for a representative of this country, if you are interested on becoming NPoC, please visit the section Get involved in this webpage, and join us!
