WORLD SPACE WEEK-DOES IT MEAN DAY AND NIGHT ACTIVITIES/EVENTS FOR A WEEK?
We are talking about WSW, in every 4-10 October, whereby this week should be covered with the activities starting from 4th up to 10th. Do we have the fixed time for these events? How if someone organize the WSW events for 5days can he/she claims that he/she has organized WSW?, and how if she/he will organize events everyday from 4th-10th but the events cover only 2hours a day! Will also claim that he/she organized WSW?
To make things clear it is good to put everything on the table that how the events qualified to be declared WSW? Or what kind of the organization of space activities is the best to qualify for WSW?
Though I understand that the activities should be conducted starting from 4th to 10th of October but what about the time covering the events, and what about the days? Those are the challenging questions that we need to brainstorm about.
Thank you for your question Castory. WSW takes place during a week of 4-10 October. This does not mean that one has to organise events for the entire week in order for it to be a WSW. What it means that persons are encouraged to organise space events anytime and for howeverlong they want during that week. These events could be from 30 minutes long to week long - it doesn't matter as long as space ic celebrated during that week. We always ask the organisers of te events to regiter their activites on the WSW website http://www.worldspaceweek.org/new_event.php and that is all it takes for it to be a WSW event.

Thank you very much for the clarification on the WSW, now I can stand strongly and say a world about WSW, because I know some if not all of the tips concerning WSW. Currentyl I am trying to think on what events could be of great impact to Tanzania so that I can make a plan on WSW, then I will post the event on the link that you provided on your comments.
But it is very important for a Nation to celebrate WSW, because it will provide the ground for young space enthusiasts to meet and share the experience on space related matters.
Also it the way to get the community, students involved in space activities.
VIVA WSW, VIVA UN OOSA, VIVA TANZANIA FOR PLANNING TO HAVE WSW FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.

I also think about making wsw interesting by involving students from primary schools/junior up to university to prepare something for that week and will be a partcular place where every one will get a chance to show what she or he has prepared for that week.
Also there should be campaign for planting trees to all areas availabe.Also there should be a slogan for that week in order to motivate people

I will be organizing WSW 2008 in Ethiopia. I was thinking of the possibility of including Exhibition as one of the events. But I have a problem of space science resources like posters, cds and pictures. I was wondering if WSW organizers could help

I thought we dont have the WSW National Coordinator for Ethiopia, but I am happy if you are the one and if real you determine to do something this year, well I will be organizing WSW also in Tanzania, so it will be good if we shall be sharing the information and ideas on how to do about it so that we can both make it.
Surely Agnieszka will help us a lot and she is willing to do so, whereby we can get in touch with her in case of anything concerning the whole process of the organization of WSW events.

World Space Week will mail materials such as posters to the National Coordinators in each country. Please go to the WSW website www.worldspaceweek.org. There you can see if Ethiopia has a National Coordinator. If yes, you should contact him/her to get the posters. If not, than why don't you apply to be one then we will send everything to you.

I am happy that WSWA is going to mail us the materials such as Posters, But if possible it will be so great if all the posters mailed to all the individual countries organizing the WSW will have the names of the countries, for example if WSW posters intended to be mailed to Tanzania, then they should have written Tanzania in every poster so that to make them formal and unique.
I think that will be great if it will be possible.

What I am currently doing is to ensure as many as possible people and organizations participate. I am inviting scientists in the field, secondary and postsecondary institutions and professional societies to be part of wsw and contribute their part. It is very difficult to do this individually. What I am trying to do is form a committee of organizers who will be responsible to implement the celebration of the week. The WSW will be as great as YN.
