Road Map development

I have uploaded the timeline data to start making a draft roadmap. The columns in blue are basically sanitised data in timeframes that we can sketch out onto some kind of axes. Maybe Something like

 Time
   ^
   |
50 | Item 3
   |
40 | Item 3
   |
30 | Item 3 Item 2
   |
20 | Item 2
   |
10 | Item1, Item2
 5 | Item 1 Item 1
 0 ----------------------------------------------> Category
     Category 1 Category 2 Category 3

The job now would be to find the best way to present the data, and get rough draft done as a proof of concept. What I have here may or may not be the best solution, so I leave it to you to get creative. Once we have something workable can work on making it pretty.

I finished a roadmap using

I finished a roadmap using the format you suggested, Chris. But I only had room for the top 4 ideas. Any ideas on how to fit the others into the roadmap?

You can find the roadmap I finished in the file share section for this group, under the Roadmap folder. It might look funky because I used Wordpad and saved it in txt format.

It's very interesting to see

It's very interesting to see the information all together like that. I think in the end we will make a graphical version, so the items can overlap and save space, something like (forgive my ASCII art again)

+----------+
| Item 1 |
| +----------+
+--| Item 2 |
   | |
   +----------+

Shi had some good ideas about how to display the information, and I am sure we can fit it all on one page. Could you make 2 more of your files with the last 6 categories, as they will make an excellent reference for making the graphical version.

Thanks!
Chris

Alright, I did two more for

Alright, I did two more for the last categories. Look under the Road Map folder. I hope they look better, because I made some changes to them. If you want me to redo the first one, let me know.

Hey, Tiffany. Great

Hey, Tiffany.
Great categories, I've read them carefully. And maybe we can do the following while making it more graphical and easier to read.
* Delete the "NEO" column and put the "asteroid tracking"
and "space debris" entries into "TECH"
* Add an entry like "Building of new type of space station"
in the "space station" column, since many students I
know here and some I met on the Yuri's night think it'd
be better having a more effective and practical space
station, even simpler would be ok.

Actually, Chris had an idea of making the map in the form of sth like a group of co-centered rings. But now it seems that there may not be enough space for the many entries if we use that form. So I prefer the matrix form so far, and will have a draft done before Tuesday.
So any other ideas on the graphical form of the map?

Great suggestions! Are you

Great suggestions!

Are you going to add those changes to your roadmap or would you like for me to edit mine?

Yeah, it's very difficult to squeeze all of those categories and responses into a page on a computer. But maybe if someone has some kind of design software, we could pull it off.

As far as the space station thing? Yeah, it might be a good idea to add that. I was just going by the responses on the roadmap data in my roadmap. But if the heads of the project think that it is ok to add that entry, then it's fine by me! :-)

A simple question

By the way, are we doing this roadmap for the COPUOS project? Thanks.

COPUOS is not really a

COPUOS is not really a project. It is a meeting, and there is both a regular agenda and the opportunity for us to make a statement. The 50 year visions will form part of that statement.

Roadmap Work

You can find the roadmap here:

http://www.spacegeneration.org/fileshare/files/84/Roadmap/roadmap2_small...

My question to all of you is: What are the steps needed to follow or acheive this roadmap? I think the roadmap looks great, but are there any suggestions to make it look even better?
