New project in Ethiopia

Dear friends, I heard about SGAC only this year. SGAC is a great place for young dreamers to share experience and learn how to contribute to the development of space science. I was thinking to start new program in Ethiopia with the support of the council.I want to widen the activity of the council in Ethiopia and East Africa since there are limited participants from the region and africa at all. I applied for national point of contact for my country and I am wondering if SGAC is and what way could help me.
Thank you

Welcome to Space Generation!

Your message is quite uplifting and we are always excited to hear about young people wanting to get involved in space activities and promote them in their country. My name is Agnieszka and I am the Executive Officer for Space Generation. I have not received your application for an Ethiopian NPoC so it would be great if you could send me your CV to officer@spacegeneration.org.

I am looking forward to hear back from you!

BETTER WAYS OF INVOLVING MORE AFRICAN YOUTHS IN INTERNATIONAL PR

African youths participation in any international workshops and conferences if one gives it a closer look demands an urgent attention. For so long African youths have always been leaving in their isolated world and all because no proper or no serious attention has been made in making sure that we are properly involved and carried along.

Furthermore, a series of incentives and encouragement are urgently needed in order to sustain and retain youths involvement in space.

Lastly,if Iam given the opportunity to serve and to work with other African youths especially in the areas of space related activities with my little involvement and experience in space related program in the last four years in Nigeria, I think the world will be a better place for us to live and space will be a common habitation for us to develop and explore.

Dear OLADUNNI, you said it

Dear OLADUNNI,
you said it right. In almost all international workshops and conferences, african youth are excluded. It even become worse when it is in science and technology. The main reason for this is our governments' less interest and believe in mobilizing the youth for better tomorrow. But I believe we can improve our involvement in space science workshops and seminars and increase our contribution if we get continous support from organizations like SGAC.

influence

to use the knowledge and repute you gain from such an event
for the good of your country
is the most honorable thing
once the young have a role model to look up too
all you need is a form of communication to contact
the youth
then as you influence them to work for something greater
then your whole area becomes greater
then you have the chance to become a good lead in the
goals that you have in mind

i would like to add to make sure that everything you do
is for peace
then as you work, (even the words you type)
keep that in mind
i'm sure a representative of peace would be much favored
then the other option

Dear Zahrah I would like to

Dear Zahrah I would like to express my appreciation for what you are doing on space science in africa. I would love to cooperate with you in promoting space science in africa. Regarding activities in Ethiopia, there has been some space science related activities in Ethiopia. The two major organizations working on space science are Ethiopian Space science society and Local SGAC members. ESSS was established in 2004 and has been carrying out some activities including forming space science and astronomy clubs in high schools and universities.
As member of SGAC, we have been organizing some activities including the yuris night 2008. We are also organizing wsw 2008. Besides the activities performed by ESSS and SGAC, there are also individuals involved in promoting and teaching space science to the community informally. Dr. Legesse Wotro is one of the individuals who opened a new way to promoting space science in the country.
if you like to know more or have specific questions please contact me at beketj@yahoo.com or contact Dr. Abebe Kebede at Gutaye@ncat.edu

Best Wishes

For start, Lets organize space conference in Africa

I like to Share with you guys especially my Africa RCs and NPoCs. If you are having this it is okey but if not please I am strongly conviced that we have to look for a proper days on which we young Space aspirants will be meeting together discussing and planning strategically how to undertake space activities in Africa, and this in global level will be taken by SGAC to relevant bodies and the RCs and NPoCs will just take them back to their home leaders for implementation.

how does it sound?
