Dear All,
Space science is an integrated subject. Its a combination of Physics, mathamatics, Chemistry and engineering that is scientific part of space sceince but for its usefullness management, financae and law also being part of it.

We can dedived into two part of space scince: 01) FULL SCIENTIC PART WHICH INCLUDE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.

02)ITS USEFULLNESS, LAW, MANAGEMENT AND OTHERS

As scienticfic reaserch and development still beyond for developing country so we can keep it for develop world. But United nation outer space agency can design a couse on " MBA is space science" which course will be desinged and explain necessities of space technology for welfare of common people like forest management, health management, environemnt management, desastermanagement, its cost, budgect etc. And for technical and prcatical ideas student can do 3-6 months interhsip in space related indutries in developed world.

As this course will deal simple technology, so united nation can select universities in developing countries to start such course. I belive that course will be few step advance policy to bring space science to general people and developing countries.

And the gradute from MBA in space science will be the good manager for mordern forest/desaster center/environment/health sector/urban management and planning and so one.

Pls put all of your advice so that we can propose this to the United nation outer space agency.

Best regards

Nito, great idea. There are

Nito, great idea. There are two programs similar. They are not an MBA, but an MS. One is the Masters in Space Studies at University of North Dakota in the USA which can be done from anywhere in the world online, that is what I did. You can find it at www.space.edu.

The other is the ISU degree.

Great Idea!

Hey Nitto,

Wow, I really rate your idea. I really think programmes like this and the ones Kevin has kindly linked to provide an excellent entry route into the broader space industry. Personally, as someone who wants a career in the field but perhaps not as an engineer, I find it can be difficult to know what to do. I originally studied Physics and Astronomy, which I loved, and it really fuelled my passion for space. But it also helped me realise that I didn't want to be an engineer or research scientist, but would rather enter into management, IT or outreach.

I found it difficult to know what to do after my degree, as the only obvious further education which would lead directly into the space industry was astronoutical engineering. I have recently begun a Master of Research in Knowledge Management, which I am enjoying immensely and hope will help me get a job that I love. But it is cetainly very broad and not related directly to the industry.

This is why I feel that wider space study programmes which encorporate both the science and the wider field of policy, law and education, such as the ones mentioned above, would perhaps help people like me, and also encourage wider public interest into field, as it expands rapidly into many areas of society!

Just a detail note on the

Just a detail note on the UND Space Studies degree, when I did my degree there, we had to take 2 courses from three areas being science, technology/engineering, and history/policy, the other 5 courses were for the student to choose with the aid of their advisory, so you could easily focus on policy or business if you wanted to.

"Pigeon Hole" degrees

Just a warning to those out there thinking about a Space Sciences degree...

Be aware of the potential difficulty you may have with a specialized degree. I have a MS in Defense and Strategic Studies (ie. a subset of International Affairs). Because it's such a rare degree by comparison I often have to spend time explaining the benefits as compared to a regular IA or Political Science degree. While I enjoyed the curriculum better than I would have the general degree, people often are confused when they see it on my resume.

Based on personal experience, getting a MBA, MPA or what not with an emphasis/minor in Space Sciences would probably allow for you to be considered by a larger section of the job market. But then again, if you want to be a Techie in the space industry, by all means, get specialized. It's what I did in my field.

degree

actually, ISU fulfills all the requirements you have listed above and even more....
you get technical, administrative, economic, legal, marketing etc.
its very hectic and time consuming but really well rounded.

Dear sir, madam,

This is to inform you on fellowship-possibilities to study for an MSc-degree in the Netherlands in the field of Applied Earth Sciences (18 months).
The International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) has been awarded an EU fellowship program in the Erasmus Mundus Network for Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP). Students from these regions are eligable to apply for this program.

The registration for this fellowship opportunity is open until 23 July 2008

For more information check the webpage of the program and the ITC web-site:

If you are enrolled in one of the ACP partner universities of the consortium you can apply for the special Target Group 1 in which you have more chances! Therefore, please check carefully to which Target Group you belong.

You can find the AES courses under the following headers:

- Earth Resource Exploration (ERE)
7.3 Geology

- Geological and Environmental engineering (GE)
6.9 others - engineering

- Geo-hazards (Natural hazards and disaster management, GH)
7.9 others - geology, geography

Since this program is valid for MSc studies starting in September 2008 the deadline for submission is already very near so please submit your application before on July 23!
