Jordan Brandes

Bio

I was born in Las Vegas in 1984 and moved to Chicago at the age of five. My early years created a high imagination and a preferance toward things of science and technology, especially future technology. In high school I worked for four years as a CA specialist training on Microstation and Autocad plus extensive knowledge of hands on blueprint creation. Some of my pet projects included AI pets (as are currently being used by MIT, if you check my papers you will see that my designs predate them), space travel and alternative energy devices. I graduate high school in 2003 where and went to Southern Illinois University-Carbondale where I spent a year as a mechanical engineer but the focus seemed to be geared more toward agricultural means so i transferred to University of Illinois at Chicago where i worked with physics and engineering. On the way i also dabbled considerably with anthropology and archeology. I spent a summer as a field technician at Cahokia Mounds learning the basics of hands on archeology. Since I found that I could not composite all my scientific interest into one field I chose instead to become a science journalist, i currently attend Columbia College Chicago where I am majoring in Science and Medical Journalism and will be graduating this coming fall. With my combined expertise and experience in such a variety of fields I feel that I will be an essential part of the SGC team.
