SGAC is looking for volunteers to support the organization of SGx2021, to be held in March 2021 in Washington, D.C., United States.

About SGx2021
SGx2021 is a SGAC event held in conjunction with the SATELLITE 2021 Conference and in partnership with Future Space Leaders Foundation (FSLF). The TED-talk style one-day event exposes students and young professionals to a range of current and relevant space topics, providing opportunities to discuss important issues in the space industry, interacting with other students and young professionals, meeting and engaging with top-level space industry experts.
Applications are open to all SGAC members (membership is free and can be accessed through the SGAC website). All organizing team members will report to the SGx2021 Managers. SGx2021 team members will each receive:
- One (1) complimentary registration to SGx2021
- One (1) complimentary registration to SATELLITE 2021
Team members will work together weekly to organize an incredible day-long event. Team members will continue with wrap up activities in the month following the event.
Sponsors Coordinator (1 Position)
Sponsors Coordinator is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about the space sector, and passionate about sharing the vision for SGx with sponsors. The sponsor coordinator will be in charge of developing relationships with future sponsors and tracking agreements.
Responsibilities:
- The Sponsor Coordinator will work alongside the SGx2021 managers to execute the vision for sponsorship and overall event experience.
- Maintain existing partnerships and develop new partnerships from across the space industry in collaboration with the SGAC Strategic Partnerships Team, SGx Managers, FSLF and the SATELLITE 2021 Conference.
- Meet with potential sponsors, and act as a point of contact for all needs.
- Develop and maintain all data regarding conference sponsors and sponsor materials, including tracking all feedback, contact info, and managing ongoing sponsor communication.
- Prepare any sponsor deliverables for SGx programming.
- Work with the Communications Coordinator to develop sponsor announcements.
- Attend weekly virtual meetings and submit updates via Google Hangouts and WhatsApp.
- Assist with other SGx tasks where necessary.
Qualifications:
- SGAC membership: registration on the SGAC website and below 35 years of age on 30 March 2021
- Demonstrated success fundraising for non-profit organisations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professionally fluent in English
- Can work independently and meet objectives in a timely manner
- Can coordinate and work with a globally dispersed team
- Can effectively work with an international, interdisciplinary team
- Fast email and messaging response turnaround time
- Familiarity with productivity tools is an asset (example: Slack)
- Experience in event programming is an asset
- Current employment in the space sector strongly preferred
Estimated time Commitment: 4 hours per week prior to event + 2 days for SGx2021 in Washington, D.C., USA
Speakers Coordinator (1 Position)
Speaker Coordinator is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about the space sector, and excited about creating a dynamic program for our guests. The speaker coordinator will be in charge of coordinating with speakers on schedules, topics, and day-of logistics.
Responsibilities:
- SGx Managers will have a vision for overall programming expectations; the Speaker Coordinator will work alongside them to execute this vision for programming content, speakers, and overall event experience.
- Identify potential and diverse speakers from across the space industry in collaboration with the SGx Managers, FSLF and the SATELLITE 2021 Conference.
- Coordinate invitations to potential speakers, and act as a point of contact for all needs.
- Develop and maintain all data for conference speakers and submissions, including tracking all feedback, contact info, and managing ongoing speaker communication.
- Prepare the speaker schedule for SGx programming, utilizing previous lessons learned to balance content and delegate networking experiences.
- Work with Communications Coordinator to develop speaker and agenda announcements.
- Attend weekly virtual meetings and submit updates via Google Hangouts and WhatsApp.
- Assist with other SGx tasks where necessary.

Social Media Coordinator (1 Position)
The Social Media Coordinator is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about the space sector, and excited about bringing people together. The Social Media Coordinator will be in charge of social media content, program guide, and day-of logistics.
Responsibilities:
- SGx Managers will have a vision for overall programming expectations; the Social Media Coordinator will work alongside them to execute this vision for programming content, social media updates, and overall event experience.
- Spread excitement for SGx2021 in the space industry in collaboration with the SGx Managers, FSLF and the SATELLITE 2021 Conference.
- Coordinate communications plan for advertising SGx on all social media channels.
- Prepare the schedule for SGx programming, utilizing previous lessons learned to balance content and delegate networking experiences.
- Work with the SGAC communications team to compile the program guide with relevant information about SGx, the SGx schedule, biographies of speakers, and tips on how to get the most from the event.
- Work with the Speaker Coordinator to develop speaker and agenda announcements.
- Attend weekly virtual meetings and submit updates via Google Hangouts and WhatsApp.
- Tweet updates throughout the day of the SGx2021 event.
- Assist with other SGx tasks where necessary.
Qualifications:

- Professionally fluent in English
- Can work independently and meet objectives in a timely manner
