SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognized for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.
SGAC is proud to present the SGAC January Member of the Month: Chantelle Dubois, Web Coordinator
Chantelle Dubois is a student in the department of computer and electrical engineering at the University of Manitoba. Since 2013, she has participated on the University of Manitoba Space Applications and Technology Society (UMSATS) team as the Director of Business and Outreach. In 2014, the team was awarded the UrtheCast outreach award at the completion of the second Canadian Satellite Design Challenge.
Chantelle first became involved with the SGAC at the 2014 Space Generation Congress in Toronto, Canada. Shortly after, she joined the web team as a Web Editor, then became Web Team Coordinator, and recently completed a term as the SGAC intern.
Chantelle was nominated by Shreya Santra, a SGAC Web Editor:
"Chantelle is extremely kind and always ready to help out. She has done a commendable job in taking care of the new SGAC Web Editors and introducing us to the tasks. She is very clear and comprehensive, as well as understanding. She is very enthusiastic and approachable and it has been a pleasure to work with her in the past few weeks."
Here's Chantelle's reaction:
"I am sincerely honoured and pleased to be recognised by my SGAC colleagues as Member of the Month. Words can not describe the impact that opportunities through the SGAC have had on me, or how meaningful the experiences have been. Being a part of SGAC has not only help add fuel to my passion for all that is space, but has also provided me with an amazing network of like-minded individuals. I look forward to continuing to grow with the organisation, and seeing what the SGAC accomplishes in the years to come."
From the SGAC Co-Chair, Stephanie Wan:
"Chantelle has been instrumental to SGAC, and is the type who quietly works behind the scenes to make sure things run smoothly - but all her hard work makes a big impact. We especially appreciate her work as the fall 2015 intern helping out with SGC, and her leadership coordinating the web team in transitioning to a new SGAC email system and assisting in the SGAC website facelift. I cannot express how lucky we are to have her in the organisation!"
