SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognised for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals.
SGAC is proud to present the SGAC November 2012 Member of the Month: Matteo Emanuelli (Italy)
Matteo Emanuelli was born in Milan, Italy. He has served as a National Point of Contact since July 2011 and he is currently in the final year of his Masters degree in Space Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (PoliMI). He worked on his thesis project on a space debris removal mission at the Omsk State Technical University in Russia. This project was presented during the Heinlein contest “Flight into the future 2011” in Moscow. He recently worked for HE Space, in the Netherlands, as Junior Business Developer.
Andrea Jaime (Executive Director) and Jaroslaw Jaworski (NPoC Poland) nominated Matteo:
"I met Matteo during SpaceUp Europe first time and than on IAC 2012. After SpaceUp we exchanged many e-mails. Matteo was very helpful for me in getting sponsors and special guests for SpaceUp Poland. It was very important and big part of this event is making now thanks to his help. In spite of that he is really open and helpful person, very active, very involved in promoting innovative "approach" to space with strong trust in international cooperation in space. In my opinion this last point is very important for SGAC family." - Jaroslaw Jaworski
"Matteo has been key for the organisation of the Space Generation Congress 2012. He has been the point of contact for many of the activities, known in Ercolano as "Signori Emanuelli", for all his calls and contacts with the locals; this helped me a lot when dealing with the italians. He has been always ready to translate from English to Italian any emails I was receiving, being available 24 hours per day. Therefore I would like to nominate Matteo Emanuelli, for his hard work before and during SGC, and at the IAC." - Andrea Jaime
Here is Matteo's reaction:
"First of all, Thank you! It's an honour to be selected as MoM. SGAC has been a wonderful experience, step by step I had the chance to know the organization and especially the people that make SGAC so great. It has been a privilege to work with them for the SGC2012 and then, day by day in the SSS working group. I've soon realised SGAC can really do the difference, just looking at the enthusiasm and the passion of every volunteer I have met so far. I'm really looking forward to seeing the brilliant future awaiting for SGAC!"
From SGAC Chair, Catherine Doldirina (Georgia):
"I am very happy that every month one of our exceptional volunteers is recognised as a member of the month! Matteo's dedication has been instrumental to the success of the Space Generation Congress, and in general his activities within the SGAC are very worthy of the MoM title. Matteo's work within SGAC shows that when one has passion and motivation for something, it is possible no matter how busy the person is. This is great to know! Congratulations Matteo! I hope all the great work will continue in the coming 2013 year!"
