The European Space Generation Workshop (E-SGW) is a two day international event that aims to bring together students and young professionals to think and collectively create Europe’s future in space.

The fifth edition of the European Space Generation Workshop will take place in Madrid on May 8th – 9th, 2020. During the time spent in Madrid, delegates will get the opportunity to share ideas on sustainable space applications, a topic the interest in which has substantially increased over the past few years.

During this two day event 120 students and young professionals (aged 18-35) will discuss and shape together the future of space in Europe. There will be talks and panels by experts and professionals from the leading European companies and agencies, and working groups where the participants will discuss about diverse space topics moderated by industry experts. It is a great opportunity for young space enthusiasts to learn about the latest space developments and to engage and discover the opportunities in the space field, as well as for the organizations to capture talent and obtain an insight on innovative ideas and the opinion of the next generation of space professionals.

Space for Earth and Humanity

The organizing team of the 5th European Space Generation Workshop held in Madrid 2020 has selected “Space for Earth and Humanity” as the overarching focus of the different working groups. Concerns for our climate and environment have never been as pressing and current as now. We aspire to highlight and discuss sustainable solutions in this year’s edition of the E-SGW: how space applications can be used and/or developed not only to continue supporting our modern, digital and connected societies but also to help shape a modern clean and sustainable world.

The vast majority of today’s space applications are not developed for deep space exploration but for life here on Earth. It is 2020, a new decade is ahead of us, let’s take this to the next level and use space applications to ensure we can all have a bright future on this planet!

Attendees application

The applications are now open and will close the 25th February 28th of February 2020. Apply here: https://spacegeneration.org/esgw2020/e-sgw-applications.

The event is expected to gather a total of 120 international students and young professionals (aged 18-35 years). The selection of participants (also known as delegates) will be based on the registration form adequacy taking into account criteria such as motivation, delegate contribution to space activities, background and gender equality. Once the applicants have been selected (beginning of March), registration through Eventbrite will open to secure the spot and pay the E-SGW 2020 ticket.

9 scholarships are available to support attendees to the event, and its application will open up in the same date as the delegates application.

The event also highlights its side event the 3rd Congress of Space Engineering (III Congreso de Ingeniería Espacial), the local Space Congress organized by the Instituto de la Ingeniería de España (IIE) and the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Aeronáuticos (COIAE), taking place from the 5th to the 7th of May 2020, also in Madrid, Spain.
