SUMMARY:SG[France] 2022 : Road to Newspace
DESCRIPTION:G \nranted that you’re as passionate about space as we are here as SGAC\, you probably know about the best part of the amazing achievements of space exploration. Gagarin’s first flight\, the Apollo missions\, the ISS or the JWST are all iconic landmarks of the fascinating conquest for outer space that were made possible by the famous\, inspiring and more than often state-owned historic actors that we all know. \nHowever\, the space industry is evolving and that’s happening fast. New actors from the private sector are taking a position in what is now customary called “NewSpace”. Blue Origin\, SpaceX and OneWeb promptly come to mind in this dynamic ecosystem\, but there is also a whole lot of smaller businesses swiftly flourishing in Europe around rocket manufacturing\, constellations and satellite design\, and various other space-based services. \nAt the French chapter of SGAC\, we are convinced that startups and SMEs have a key role in shaping the future of space exploration and exploitation. We hence decided to organize this year’s French Space Generation event around the following discussion: \n\nWhat is the role of business in the future of the space sector and how can we foster space-related entrepreneurship ? \n\n\nS\nG[France] 2022 will take place in Strasbourg in the end of Spring 2022\, if you are a student or young professional aged 18-35\, do not miss this opportunity to meet and chat with renowned experts of the French and European space industry as well as with numerous young space enthusiasts ! \n\nCheck out the event website nowREGISTER NOW !

SUMMARY:SG[India] 2022
DESCRIPTION:S G[India] 2022- the very first edition of SGAC’s flagship local event in India- is happening in an online version this April. SG[India] 2022 is focused on encouraging the use of space for social benefits. The founder of the Indian space program Dr Vikram Sarabhai encouraged harnessing space technologies for social benefits. SG[India] is taking that initiative forward with this significant local event.  \nThe program will consist of keynote speeches and panels\, and a round of discussions\, followed by working group sessions where participants are split into groups and work together on proposed topics guided by subject matter experts from our sponsors and other SGAC teams. \n\nAs we are unable to have an offline event despite our best efforts due to the current 3rd wave of the pandemic\, we will ensure that the audience will have a proactive role in the event! \n\nThe language will be English since the organisers aim to be inclusive and diverse concerning participants and panel experts. \nWorking Groups\n \nWG1 Details\nWG1: Global Partnership in Space Exploration & Innovation\nWe humans always want to touch every inch of the universe. States and space agencies have been engaged in space exploration by one way or another since our first launch. Nowadays focus is shifted to robotic missions beyond our earth and solar system. So\, How can we do it collaboratively? How can a global partnership develop to have futuristic space exploration missions? What are challenges ahead of it and how to overcome them? This working group targets a start of a chain to have sustainable global partnership for Space Exploration and innovation. \n \nWG2 Details\nWG2: Strengthened Space Cooperation in Global Health\nSG[India] is themed to harness space technologies for social benefits. Past two years were so much difficult for the world due to the health system crisis. UNOOSA also has it in one of their thematic priorities to strengthen the global health system using space. This working group entails discussion about how space can be an important factor to strengthen the global health ecosystem. \n \nWG3 Details\nWG3: Global space governance: Current and Future Perspectives\nWe still don’t have any remarkable intergovernmental level space governance. What should be the code of conduct\, confidence building measures\, safety concepts and regulations for a global space system? How can we take initiative for this? What are the challenges? How can we establish standards and regulations related to it? This working group takes a small leap towards knocking the doors of the global space system to have a proper foundation of Global space governance.  \n \nWG4 Details\nWG4: Diversity and Equality in the Space Industry: Challenges and Possible Solutions\nOnly around 1 in 5 space industry workers are women\, roughly the same proportion as 30 years ago. Only 11% of astronauts to date have been women. What gives rise to this difference? Why are conditions still almost the same as they were decades ago? With this working group\, the delegates will first attempt to understand the underlying causes of bias in the space sector and its impact\, both immediate and long-term. They will study the current solutions in place to tackle this\, how effective they have been and will then brainstorm possible challenges and solutions on how to eliminate bias and harassment in the workplace while fostering an era of gender equality and diversity in the aerospace industry. \n \nWG5 Details\nWG5: International Cooperation to Mitigate the Threat of Space Debris\nSpace debris has been a topic of intense debates and discussions over the past years\, yet the threat it poses becomes more real with every passing day. It is estimated that there are around 200\,000 pieces sized between 0.4 and 4 inches\, and millions of pieces smaller than 1cm. With over 3200 defunct satellites already in orbit\, this kind of debris can lead to catastrophic consequences and the loss of potentially critical services. In this working group\, the delegates will discuss how international regulation in this domain can shape the future of space and what kind of policies can be put into place to regulate space launches in a way that will help minimise new space debris. They will also analyse what kind of initiatives and markets can be created on a global scale to mitigate existing debris and how that will impact the space economy as a whole. \n \nWG6 Details\nWG6: Space4SDGs: Space Technology for Tackling Climate Change\nClimate change over the next few decades will define the future of our planet and human civilization. We have already seen unprecedented global disasters which can directly be linked to the result of global warming. Space technology\, in the form of earth observation satellites and remote sensing\, has already increased scientists’ understanding of climate change and subsequent disaster management by leaps and bounds. Delegates of this working group will discuss the actions being taken currently by different space agencies across the world to assist with the Sustainable Development Goals put forward by the United Nations. They will aim to determine how space technology can be further used to mitigate the consequences of climate change and what challenges need to be overcome to limit global temperature rise to well below 2 degrees centigrade. \nClick on the button below to download SG[India] Information Kit \nDOWNLOAD KITKeynote Speakers\, Panelists\, SME’s and Moderators \nDetailsScheduleSchedule\n  \nAll times are in Indian Standard Time (GMT+5:30)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime\n\n\nSchedule*\n\n\n\n\n9:00 – 10:00\n\n\nInaugural Speech by Shri S. SUMMARY:SG[Germany] 2021
DESCRIPTION:In 2021\, SG[Germany] will build upon the success of last year’s virtual event series held in November and continue the discussion about advancing the role of Germany and the German industry in the space economy within the next decade. \nThis virtual event intends to attract students and young professionals across Germany as participants. \nThe program will consist of keynote speeches and panels\, followed by a round of discussions where participants are split into groups and work together on proposed topics guided by subject matter experts from our sponsors. \n \nAs was the case last year\, the audience will have a proactive role in the event! \n  \nThe language will be English since the organisers aim to be inclusive and diverse concerning participants and panel experts. \n  \n#SGGermany #SpaceMadeinGermany \n \nWe have a few spots left for the Cyber Security Round Table. Interested?\nPlease reach out to Maren (maren.huelsmann@spacegeneration.org)  if you want to attend the event.\n  \nProgrammeRound Table TopicsProgramme\n  \n  \n \n \n  \n \n  \n  \nRound Table Topics\nDiscussions will evolve around the future of the German space ecosystem with a special focus on the following 5 issues: \nSpace Safety and Sustainability\nSpace is becoming congested and addressing the sustainability challenge is more and more complex. Stakeholders have different commercial and political interests and the only thing they have in common is wanting to be able to use the space environment for future generations. How could the new generation in Germany champion solving this issue\, promoting a responsible use of space\, while providing business opportunities to the national actors? \nCyber Security\nThis topic addresses how data may become commoditized (and even weaponized) in the future and how new space-based solutions may help increase cyber-resilience. From blockchain in space to hosting servers on the Moon\, novel and captivating solutions will be explored in conjunction with the group. \nNew Space\nThis topic looks at promising companies developed in Germany in the last 10 years and explores the pace of change of the space economy and how new companies adapt to an increasingly fast-changing ecosystem. What are the biggest innovation drivers\, opportunities\, and challenges in the country for the space sector? \nDigital Earth Twin\nClimate change\, deforestation\, depletion of resources\, overpopulation… how can a digital Earth twin help predicting the future? What inputs and outputs are needed to create smart(er) cities\, ensure food security\, and maintain ecological health? How can an interactive model of the Earth (that accurately reflects diverse physical aspects of our planet) help society\, politicians\, and even machines make informed/better decisions in Germany? \nDownstream Applications\nDownstream applications – Downstream applications of EO and GNSS data have generated an ever-growing market with many new players emerging. This is a true opportunity of NewSpace start-ups completing the entire value chain of space-based services. What are the most promising applications and what is their impact? \n  \nSponsors\nThe team of SG[Germany] and SGAC thank our sponsors for their contributions. The event could not have happened without their generous support! \n\nGOLD SPONSORS and PARTNERS\n\n  \n  \n\nSILVER SPONSORS and PARTNERS\n\n  \n  \n\n  \n  \n\nBRONZE SPONSORS and PARTNERS\n\n  \n  \n\nLOCAL PARTNER (Media)\n  \n\nSUPPORTED BY\n\nEvent Manager\n\n\n\nMaren Hülsmann\nmaren.huelsmann@spacegeneration.org\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:SGAC: Through the Generations
DESCRIPTION:On Monday 26th of March 2018 SGAC will welcome both past and present members for an afternoon of discussions and networking hosted at the headquarters of the European Space Agency in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. \nSince its creation in 1999 thousands of students and young professionals have been involved in the SGAC network. Our alumni are spread all over the world\, contributing to the development of the space field\, often from key positions in either private or public entities. The event will be an opportunity for our present members to meet and be inspired by our successful alumni experiences. \nAround 50 delegates are invited to join this afternoon of discussion. Alumni will share their career advice and lessons learned on the occasion of several panels. Coffee breaks and networking opportunities will allow a direct contact with the alumni. \nFollowing the afternoon discussions\, delegates delegates will be invited to enjoy a social event around a drink in the city. \nRegister Here\n
