SUMMARY:Towards a more inclusive space sector for women
DESCRIPTION:The Space Generation Advisory Council and Women in Aerospace Europe invite you to a panel discussion about diversity and inclusiveness in the space sector. The main focus is the inclusiveness of women. \nFour extraordinary professionals will share their compelling vision on the subject\, based on their personal experiences. \nYou can already participate in the event before it begins! Use #AskOGL to ask your questions about the webinar and to our speakers. \n  \nMeet the panelists : \nClémentine Decoopman is currently the Executive Director of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC). As such\, she leads the operations\, business development and policy output for the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC)\, a non-profit and volunteer-based organisation representing more than 18 000 members and alumni in 150 countries. \nThe SGAC Executive Director is the face of the organisation internally towards the members and externally towards the partners\, sponsors and the industry at large. \nBethany Downer works around the world in the domain of outreach and communications for space\, currently residing in Brussels\, Belgium. She manages press and outreach for the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope for the European Space Agency and is responsible overseeing the telescope’s 30th Anniversary celebrations and public engagement initiatives for Europe. Bethany also coordinates the communications for the Space Generation Advisory Council\, the UNESCO International Day of Light\, the International Astronomical Union’s centenary celebrations (IAU100)\, and the popular Space Scoop astronomy platform for children. \nCatherine Lambert has been dedicated to data processing and innovation\, throughout her career in the National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) to her current position as head of CERFACS. As such\, she is involved in major national and international projects and works closely with the main actors of the space segment. \nHer expertise led her to join -among other organisations- the Advisory Committee for Earth Observation in ESA\, and the French Academy of Technologies\, two prestigious institutions where she provides her insights and understanding. Beyond her career\, Catherine is deeply involved in several organisations such as Women in Aerospace (WiA). \nHélène Lemonnier is the head of sales for commercial and military Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) solutions and services in Airbus. Currently based in Munich Airbus Defence and Space Headquarters\, she manages a multinational team focused on the business growth of 25kg to several tones’ drones\, such as the Zephyr program\, the world’s leading solar-electric stratospheric aircraft. Hélène’s impressive career brings insightful vision on the sector: as an agronomy engineer\, she first spent 10 years working for SMEs in the Sophia Antipolis technology park\, before joining the future Airbus Defence and Space in 2004\, where she headed several departments in Earth Observation business before being promoted as head of the UAS sales team. \nBeyond her career\, Hélène is also the happy mother of three marvellous children and has been deeply involved in volunteer-based organisations on gender diversity such as Women in Aerospace (WiA).

SUMMARY:SG Latin American Webinar Series #4: Development and implementation of a space economy in the region
DESCRIPTION: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the early stages of space exploration most activities were undertaken or guided by states\, however there is a current trend of private companies developing several aspects of space exploration. From launch services to satellite parts manufacturing\, including Earth observation services and space tourism\, private initiatives have flourished towards a new age of space exploration\, a philosophy known as NewSpace. This trend has been allowed by the development of the markets\, cheaper technology\, new regulations\, appearance of new applications for a broader audience\, and new opportunities for commercial exploitation of space resources. The South American region could benefit from the development of a space economy ecosystem\, by providing a benchmark for the appearance of private companies tackling space applications. \n**This session will be delivered in Spanish \n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:SG Latin American Webinar Series #3: Opportunities for Analog Research\, Astrobiology and Planetary Science in Latin America
DESCRIPTION:There has been a great growth in interest around the world in crewed missions towards the Moon\, Mars\, and several outer space destinations. As part of this endeavor\, there has been a development in analogue research missions. Analogue missions are field tests in locations that have physical similarities to the extreme space environments that we can find in other locations in outer space. Analogue missions experiments involve testing of new technologies\, robotic equipment\, vehicles\, habitats\, communications\, power generation\, mobility\, infrastructure as well as the observation of human factors such as the analysis of behavioral effects\, isolation and confinement\, team dynamics\, menu fatigue\, among others. Previous studies have shown that South America has several places that could be used to develop analogue missions. This working group will identify how SA countries can be part of this research trend from different perspectives: locations/facilities in SA for the development of analogue mission\, formation of human resources for future missions\, and interaction between the region and external agencies and institutions. \n

SUMMARY:SG Latin American Webinar Series #2: Satellite Technology for the Benefit of People: A Space Perspective for Solving Regional Problems
DESCRIPTION:The electronics miniaturization as well as cost reduction have been the trigger of a new generation of small satellites\, amongst them the ones known as CubeSat. Although small\, this kind of satellite can carry a variety sensors such as multispectral and hyperspectral cameras or even spectrometers that can acquire important and useful information while they are in orbit around the Earth. Its general low cost implementation makes it interesting for researchers\, governments\, and companies who want to provide services such as internet\, land monitoring among others\, to use them as a resource. Several institutions in South America have been developing small satellite technology as independent initiatives\, gathering experience relevant for the implementation of small satellite based missions which could benefit the region. This panel will focus on identify possible partnerships\, the steps to generate collaborative programs in this area\, and the current state of affairs regarding the technology capacities\, towards making a first approach for emergent countries towards the space sector\, and serve as a platform for solving some problems of the region that could be aided by the use of space located assets\, such as natural disaster control. \nThis webinar will be held in Spanish. \n
