SUMMARY:Space Life Sciences: Career Pathways and Speed Mentoring
DESCRIPTION:SGAC’s Mentoring Committee in association with the Space Medicine and Life Science Project Group presents a one-day workshop titled “Space Life Sciences: Career Pathways and Speed Mentoring”. This workshop is aimed at providing additional career development resources for students and young professionals interested in Space Life Science. Additionally\, it aims to enhance the visibility of role models in the field and improve mentorship access in the underrepresented fields of space life sciences.  \n \nAbout Rochelle Velho: \nRochelle Velho is a Medical Doctor specializing in Acute Medicine & Intensive Care Medicine with operational and research experience in Aerospace Medicine. She completed the NIHR AFP in Public Health and the NIHR ACF in ACCS-ICM with an MPH in 2019; which taught her about the complexities of healthcare delivery during the Ebola and Covid19 pandemics. In parallel with her clinical training\, she is the Austrian Space Forum (OeWF) CMO and has participated in expeditions to test space suit simulators in extreme environments. Rochelle is also the founder and co-chair of the SGAC Space Medicine Life Sciences Project Group and represents SGAC on the UN Space 4 Global Health working group. Her ultimate aspiration is to source more space-based solutions to solve terrestrial health challenges. Rochelle has previously and is currently mentoring students at high school\, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The latter is really important to her\, as her mentors helped me source opportunities and were invaluable at every step of my space journey. \nREGISTER HERE!

SUMMARY:Space Generation Fusion Forum 2023
DESCRIPTION:Held annually at the scenic Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs\, Colorado\, U.S.A.\, in conjunction with the Space Symposium\, the Space Generation Fusion Forum (SGFF) is a multi-day\, high-intensity\, fast-paced professional development and networking event focused on the global space industry. Students and young professionals from around the world\, who are working and participating in all facets of the space community\, apply to attend SGFF each year. \nThrough breakout sessions\, expert panels\, keynote presentations\, and speed networking\, SGFF delegates will “fuse” their unique perspectives and backgrounds to formulate solutions to global problems of interest and importance to the space community. By attending SGFF\, delegates will learn from each other and from experts\, share their knowledge\, network with fellow students and young professionals in the space industry\, and meet international leaders in the space field.  \nAll output and content produced by the discussions held during the Space Generation Fusion Forum are compiled into a report for the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. SUMMARY:SG [Azerbaijan] 2023
DESCRIPTION:SG [Azerbaijan] is the first ever Space Generation Advisory Council local event in Azerbaijan organized with the support of Azercosmos\, the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and SGAC. \nThe event is to be held under the theme of Women in Space: Challenges and Opportunities\, and it aims to highlight the importance of STEAM education for women in Azerbaijan\, to discuss how the benefits of space can reach women and girls\, to ensure they have an equal and active role in the areas of space science\, technology\, exploration and innovation. \nThe date is the 27th of April\, and this date has been chosen not coincidentally. Globally\, every year on the fourth Thursday in April (this year\, the 27th of April) is celebrated International Girls in ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Day. \nWe look forward to gathering together students\, young professionals\, young scientists and space enthusiasts from all regions of Azerbaijan. During the day\, all participants will have an opportunity to participate in sessions\, panel discussions\, and webinars\, space master class and networking\, which is aimed to promote women empowerment in the space science and technology. \nAnother critical point is to emphasize the importance of achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment. Despite some significant milestones\, progress towards gender equality in Azerbaijan faces a number of challenges. There are some stereotypes towards male and female job\, especially in a STEAM field. SG Azerbaijan 2023 is a platform for clarifying of the current situation showing on examples a huge progress in a field of women’s development in Azerbaijan in the space industry and STEAM. Moreover\, there will be shown ways for improvement and development in this direction. \nIt is important to highlight possibilities which are available for women in the fields of STEAM\, space and innovation. Very often young generation chooses the wrong direction in education and profession based on stereotypes and some fears. Though\, many world and local female models are leading “male” type professions and gaining huge success. \nWe believe in the importance of delivering the message of opportunities and challenges of the Space industry to the communities and especially female auditorium\, so they understand an importance of education and science. \nThe general objectives of the event are: \n\nRaise awareness about the role of women in the space industry\, technologies and space exploration\nRecognize and pick out challenges and opportunities for women in space\nEncourage women to participate in space-related careers\, seminars and events\nIntroduce females who have succeeded in the space industry and allow an open communication\n\n  \n  \nThe Space Generation Advisory Council in Support of the United Nations Programme on Space Applications is a global non-governmental\, non-profit (US 501(c)3) organisation and network which aims to connect and represent university students and young space professionals ages 18 – 35 to the United Nations\, space agencies\, industry\, and academia. \nAzercosmos\, Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan\, is the leading force behind the development of innovative space ecosystem in Azerbaijan.
