SGAC is seeking candidates with native English language proficiency to join our Editing and Reports team. Editors will assist with the editing of various organisational documents and reports, having a direct impact on all of the SGAC products that are released and presented around the world on behalf of the university students and young professionals of SGAC. The Copy Editor’s duties would be to review SGAC’s reports and documents. The aim is to reach a coherent, clear, and professional document with proper English language use and punctuation. 

Copy editors should have native proficiency in English and good writing skills. They should be responsible, and dedicated with quick email response and document review turnaround time. Considering the role involves the review of documents drafted by other members of the organisation, an eye for detail is key. Much of the editing work at SGAC happens during the months of October to January, and  May to June. As such, availability during these months is critical for this role. 

Estimated time commitment: On average 3-10 hours per month, depending on time of the year. 


Necessary Qualifications

  • SGAC membership: registration on the SGAC website and below 33.5 years of age at the time of appointment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, quick turnaround international environment and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work
  • Professional Fluency (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) in English
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Cross-cultural and communication awareness
  • Previous experience in editing and proofreading is a plus

As with all SGAC positions, meetings and work will be completed virtually. The selected applicant must be easily accessible via e-mail and phone on a daily basis. Communication skills and ability to respond in a timely manner are vital. This is a volunteer position.
