SGAC teams up with several national space organisations at the IAC: MANT, NVR and UKSEDS

SGAC participated at the annual International Congress (IAC), this year held in Toronto, Canada, during which, SGAC expanded on its current network with other entities in the space sector. As in the past, SGAC had the great opportunity to formally sign cooperation agreements with a number of space organisations. In this first part reporting on this year's new partners, we would like to introduce the Hungarian Astronautical Society (MANT), United Kingdom Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (UKSEDS) and the Dutch Space Society (NVR).

SGAC announces results of the Name An Asteroid Campaign – 6 asteroids named!

11 October, 2014

Last year SGAC’s NEO Project Group held the Name An Asteroid Campaign which called for submissions to name an asteroid in two age groups (under 18, and over 18). Three names for each age group were chosen and sent to the International Astronomical Union (IAU)’s Committee on Small Body Nomenclature (CSBN) for approval. All the proposed names were presented to the CSBN, who judged that they were all suitable, so all six names were accepted!
