Results of the Regional Coordinator Election in the South America Region

SGAC held elections in April/May 2026 to elect the next Regional Coordinator (RC) in the South American Region. We are happy to announce that Erik Busnello Imbuzeiro (Brazil) has been elected as the Regional Coordinator for South America.

Election Report

The election received two applications for one regional coordinator position.  

7 votes were received in the election. The election concluded with the following result:

  • Erik Busnello Imbuzeiro – 100%
  • Keneth Lyn Culli Echegaray – 0%
  • Abstained – 0%

Erik Busnello Imbuzeiro is therefore declared the winner of the election for Regional Coordinator in the South America Region. SGAC congratulates all candidates who stood in this election and thanks them for their commitment to the community.

About Erik Busnello Imbuzeiro

Erik is a civil servant at the Brazilian Space Agency, holding a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Brasília (with a focus on Defence and Space Economy) and a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, with more than five years of experience in the Brazilian space sector. He completed the Space Studies Program at the International Space University (2022) and has worked at AEB at the forefront of interactions with the private sector and entrepreneurship. He has served as Regional Coordinator for South America at the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) since 2024 and is the author of articles presented at the International Astronautical Congress. He has experience in space policy and economics, international partnerships, and innovation.

“I feel honored to have received once again the trust of my fellow South American colleagues to be their Regional Coordinator for a new term. South America has incredible potential to be a relevant player in all areas at the world stage and space is no different. This potential can already be seen by the vibrant and strong capability demonstrated by our youth throughout different space events worldwide. The future of the region’s space sector relies on us, who can bring together the energy of youth and our common cultural background to greatly impact our hopeful society through science, technology and innovation. SGAC is a formidable tool to include South America’s competent young workforce into the international space sector and in my new term I intend to strengthen its presence in the region even further.”
