On 2 – 4 December 2019, Addis Ababa will be host to the 8th African Space Leadership Congress (ASLC) on Space Science and Technology for Sustainable Development, themed “Prospects and Challenges of African Space Development”. AF-SGW and the ASLC Youth Forum have established a collaborative relationship intended to promote youth engagement in space in Africa. By hosting the AF-SGW congruently with ASLC, we hope to provide our delegates the opportunity to not only participate in a regional SGAC event, and contribute to their working groups, but also to attend the largest African-focused space conference on the continent, in a single trip.
Delegates to AF-SGW will have the opportunity to attend ASLC and participate in the ASLC Youth Forum events, providing them with insight into the current status of the space industry in Africa. ASLC is attended by many African space companies, agencies, and academic institutions, providing AF-SGW delegates with valuable networking and learning opportunities. The Youth Forum’s mandate is similar to the aims of AF-SGW: “To create a platform for engagement of students and young professionals in the space sector towards harnessing space for development in Africa”.
Attendance to ASLC is at the delegates’ discretion, but we encourage you to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity. To learn more about ASLC 2019, visit the event website at http://aslc.essti.gov.et/
