SGAC’s Mentoring Committee in association with the Space Medicine and Life Science Project Group presents a one-day workshop titled “Space Life Sciences: Career Pathways and Speed Mentoring”. This workshop is aimed at providing additional career development resources for students and young professionals interested in Space Life Science. Additionally, it aims to enhance the visibility of role models in the field and improve mentorship access in the underrepresented fields of space life sciences.

About Rochelle Velho:

Rochelle Velho is a Medical Doctor specializing in Acute Medicine & Intensive Care Medicine with operational and research experience in Aerospace Medicine. She completed the NIHR AFP in Public Health and the NIHR ACF in ACCS-ICM with an MPH in 2019; which taught her about the complexities of healthcare delivery during the Ebola and Covid19 pandemics. In parallel with her clinical training, she is the Austrian Space Forum (OeWF) CMO and has participated in expeditions to test space suit simulators in extreme environments. Rochelle is also the founder and co-chair of the SGAC Space Medicine Life Sciences Project Group and represents SGAC on the UN Space 4 Global Health working group. Her ultimate aspiration is to source more space-based solutions to solve terrestrial health challenges. Rochelle has previously and is currently mentoring students at high school, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The latter is really important to her, as her mentors helped me source opportunities and were invaluable at every step of my space journey.
