Pioneer Award: Yulia Akisheva

Yulia Akisheva is an aerospace engineer by training currently finishing a PhD in Protective Use of Regolith for Planetary and Lunar Exploration, or PURPLE in short. This PhD is supported by the European Space Agency (ESA), TRAD Tests & Radiations and ISAE-SUPAERO under the ESA OSIP collaboration platform.

Space Tourism: A Closer Look on Safety Sustainability

Looking at a rocket launch, it is difficult not to be amazed by the scene of a huge machine shooting straight up into the sky, creating enormous smoke clouds around it. The astronauts on the rocket have trained for years for this moment and have a hectic few months of important scientific work awaiting them. However, with the rise of space tourism, some things have changed. These new space travelers do not receive much training and go to space mostly for their entertainment. While it is impressive that within a few decades, space flight has become so much more accessible, it also raises the question of whether we are prepared for a large space tourism economy, especially from a safety and sustainability standpoint.

Munich, Germany to host the 8th European Space Generation Workshop in 2024!

The European flagship event, the European Space Generation Workshop or E-SGW for short, is coming to Germany in 2024. Set to take place in the first half of the year (around May/June), E-SGW 2024 aims at bringing together 100 students and young professionals from across the region to broaden horizons, facilitate potential collaborations beyond borders and create a hub for networking, knowledge sharing and cooperation.

SGAC Announces the Winners of the NASA SCaN Scholarship 2023

In cooperation with NASA Space Communications and Navigation, SGAC is pleased to announce two winners of the 2023 NASA SCaN Scholarships who will be sponsored to attend the 21st Space Generation Congress (September 28– 30 2023) and the 74th International Astronautical Congress (October 2–6 2023)  in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Call for NPoC August 2023

Apply today to be the National Point of Contact (NPoC) of your country! NPoCs are volunteers that act as contact point for SGAC in their country, forming a local team that coordinated SGAC activities at national level. Each country can have up to two NPoCs who work together to coordinate SGAC activities in their country.
