Welcome to SGAC Togo!
Togo is a country in West Africa. It is certainly not known for its prowess in the space industry and technology, but it is a country resolutely turned toward the future. Although there is a lack of training and modern infrastructures for space sciences and technology, we can notice a surge of interest in space in recent years thanks to a new generation who wants to see the sector develop by organizing regular space sciences outreach activities.
The opening of the new remote sensing and geoinformatics laboratory at the University of Lomé in June 2022 reinforces the quality of teaching using space tools.
Thanks to the determination of the new generation and the ambitions of the country’s authorities, Togo will be able to develop its space sector through space sciences and space technologies.

TOGO UNDER THE STARS!
For two weeks, from 16-22 March 2022, six Togolese geologists and four French astronomers traveled around the country, visiting schools, villages, and public squares. Scientific workshops on the theme of space and astronomy were organized in six cities across Togo, that is from Kara in the central northeast through Sokodé, Atakpamé, and Kpalimé to Aného and Lomé on the south coast of Togo (https://www.europlanet-society.org/europlanet-magazine/issue-3/togo-under-the-stars/).
