WSBW Volunteers call 2023

Description

SGAC has partnered with Euroconsult to bring 10 Students and Young Professionals to attend and volunteer for the World Satellite Business Week, in Paris, France. The winners of the award will be able to participate in either the entire WSBW or just part of it (i.e.: Summit for Satellite Financing (SSF) or Summit on Earth Observation Business (SEOB)) and contribute to making a successful event by volunteering for some hours during the day as a host/hostess.

Award

The winners will receive a free entry ticket in order to attend the World Satellite Business Week (WSBW) in Paris, France and will get the opportunity to directly interact with the space industry leaders and help them in navigating the event venue.

The award will cover the ticket to the WSBW only; other expenses such as travel expenses, accommodations, and visa costs are NOT reimbursed/included.

How to Apply

To apply, you will need to answer the following questions:

  • Why would you like to volunteer at the WSBW? (250 words max)
  • How will this impact your work/career in the future? (250 words max)

Your submission should follow the competition guidelines below. Only completed applications will be considered.

Guidelines

Eligibility & Requirements

  1. The scholarship is open to students and young professionals.
  2. Participants must be eligible SGAC members (registered on the SGAC website) between the age of 18 and 35 years as of the 11th of September, 2023.
  3. Competition judges are ineligible for the award.
  4. Participants must be able to travel and be in Paris at the time of the event
  5. Experience in the hospitality or customer service sector is a plus
  6. Management, organizational, and planning skills are a plus
  7. Great interpersonal and communication skills are needed
  8. A charming demeanour and positive attitude are needed
  9. Flexibility is needed

Submission

  1. The language of all submissions must be English.
  2. All submissions must be made by 22 February 2023, 23:59 GMT. Any submissions after the deadline will not be considered.

Responsibilities of the Winners

The winners shall:

  • Attend in person either the entire WSBW or the SSF/ SEOB 2023.
  • Help the WSBW Event Manager in delivering tasks such as but not limited to: checking attendees’ badges, welcoming attendees at the welcome desk, guide attendees towards the requested direction (e.g.: meeting or conference room).
  • Be available and punctual for the assigned shifts  

Reimbursement

  1. The free ticket will be given to the winner before the WSBW 2023.

Copyright and Intellectual Property

By submitting an entry, applicants agree to permit the SGAC to use their names, affiliations, and headshot photo in connection with the opportunity. This also applies to the essay that is submitted: portions of this essay could be used for promotional purposes (the authors, of course, will be credited for the content).

Liability

  1. Organisers shall not be responsible in the event the WSBW 2023 is cancelled. SGAC will not reimburse the winner, even if they has already incurred expenses.
  2. Organisers shall not be responsible in the event the award winner fails to attend WSBW 2023 or is unable to under extenuating circumstances; in that case, the award offer shall become void.
  3. Organisers shall not be responsible in the event the award winner cannot obtain any necessary travel documents; if they are required but not obtained, the award offer shall become void.
  4. The award is not transferable to another event or individual.

Evaluation

The applications will be evaluated by a panel composed of the SGAC Scholarships Team and Euroconsult.
