“If we want Central America, our worthy homeland, to be an independent, free and happy nation, we need to make all the sacrifices that independence demands.”.

— Jose Cecilio del Valle — Author of the Central America Declaration of Independence

Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in a partnership with the Central American Association for Aeronautics and Space (ACAE) is proud to announce the first regional event in San Jose, Costa Rica. The 1st Central American Space Generation Workshop (CA-SGW 2019) is a two-day workshop for students and young professionals to discuss pertinent issues in the Central American region. It will be held from February 22nd to February 23rd 2019, and will take place in the main facilities of Federated College of Engineers and Architects of Costa Rica.

About the Central American Association for Aeronautics and Space (ACAE):

The Central American Association for Aeronautics and Space (ACAE) is a non-profit organization (NGO) with the mission of introducing Central America into the aerospace development paradigm. To achieve this goal, ACAE is working as a catalyst between government, academia, industry and civil society in order to take advantage of the available resources in the region and promote the Central American young talent.

What is the Central American Space Generation Workshop?

The first CA-SGW aims to guide its delegates through informative talks and interactive working group activities. This regional event will bring together Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree candidates, young professionals, experts, academia, space institutions and industry representatives to create a network, exchange know-how, share best practices and nurture the next generation’s perspective on space matters. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts from academia, businesses and space laboratories throughout speakers sessions, keynotes and interdisciplinary working group discussions. The congress includes other networking activities, as cultural nights and gala dinner sessions. Its intended to be a space of feedback and leadership among different cultures, opinions and academic areas.

The workshop will result in the preparation of a report on the state of development of the Central American region in the space field, which will be presented to the United Nations Program on Space Applications.
