SGAC North Macedonia
National Points of Contact North Macedonia
Welcome to the country page of SGAC North Macedonia! Our main objective is to reach and connect with students and young professionals in order to inspire North Macedonia’s next space generation.
North Macedonia is a developing country in the Balkans region of Europe and this is the first year to join the Space Generation Advisory Council. The National Points of Contact Martina Dimoska and Bobi Sofronijoski are building momentum towards building a space industry, research, and education through various programs and initiatives.
On behalf of the NPOCs North Macedonia has already made small but significant steps towards outreach progress in space advocacy, and paths for research and proposals for several projects to official government and research institutions, universities, and other entities. SGAC North Macedonia offers opportunities for students and young professionals to connect with the global space community and work towards building a better future for the country through space activities.
For space enthusiasts there are several ways to become involved and get in contact with other young likeminded people, aside from SGAC activities in North Macedonia:
International Space Alliance (ISA), which is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in N.Macedonia that fosters inclusivity and representation within the STEM and Space Ecosystem, focusing on providing easier access and enabling diversity involvement. International Space Alliance (ISA) focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation and caters to solving environmental, economic, and technological challenges related to Earth and Space Exploration.
The NASA International Space Apps Challenge (Space Apps) is an international hackathon for coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists, and others in cities around the world, where teams engage the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) free and open data to address real-world problems on Earth and in space.
Each October, over the course of two days, Space Apps brings participants from around the world together at hundreds of in-person and virtual local events to solve challenges submitted by NASA experts. After the hackathon, project submissions are judged by space agency experts and winners are selected for one of 10 Global Awards.
Macedonian teams organize the following locations where you can be included on-site or online:
- NASA Space Apps Challenge Strumica held in Strumica, N. Macedonia
