How to Apply
To apply, you will need to prepare a 1-page essay (max 500 words) on the following topic:
Growing space safety and sustainability concerns to drive In-Orbit Services and Space Situational Awareness uptake. Indeed, with another 28 000 satellites to be launched in the next decade (a +76% increase compared to last decade), adding to over 6 000 active satellites and 130 million space debris (only 35 000 of which large enough to be tracked), satellite operators see a growing need for SSA solutions enabling safer spaceflight. Please share your thoughts on how this could shape by 2035:
- Role of the private sector
- Governance
- Role of international partnerships
- What are the key technologies, type of infrastructure and services being developed, etc.
- To what extent will governments procure commercial services versus developing and operating their own systems, and what are the benefits and limitations of those choices?
Please, make sure to include the rationale behind your idea and include the Five Ws (What will it be?, Who will do this?, Why will it be like that?, Where will this happen?, When/How?) in the essay.
