Kumbirai Nicholas Matingo

Regional Communications Manager for Africa

Kumbirai is a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) practitioner who began his journey as a GIS analyst and GIS developer. While he still works, explores, and experiments with spatial data among various tools, he is obsessed with the dynamics of space, spatial data and innovation towards driving sustainable causes.

Spencer Davis

Regional Executive Secretary – NCAC

The son of an amateur astronomer and the grandson of an analytical rocket and propellent chemist, Spencer Davis was raised in an environment where the wonder of space was ever-present. He is based in Washington, D.C., USA, provides U.S. federal and international policy, government relations, and communications counsel and strategy to diverse clients, and manages several multisectoral policy alliances. He previously oversaw the creation, copyediting, and publication of over 400 client-facing legislative, regulatory, and policy analyses that ensured clients were up to date on the latest policy developments from the U.S. government.

Spencer received a Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University and a bachelor’s degree in public health from Brigham Young University.

Victor Dennis

Regional Communication Manager – Africa

Victor is an Information Security Specialist/Digital Marketing Associate with a fervent interest in Cybersecurity, Space Technology, and Digital Marketing.

His professional journey includes significant roles across the Aerospace, Technology and Innovation industries, contributing to projects that blend his expertise in cybersecurity, business development and digital marketing. He has spearheaded initiatives aimed at ensuring effective communication, data and information security across multiple industries while leveraging his skills in business strategy & development.

He has been an active member of SGAC since 2021 where he was the 1st remote intern and was a member of the organizing team for several local, regional and international events across SGAC

He is dedicated to ensuring that digital infrastructures and assets are secured as well as actively contributing to the growth and productivity of the space industry.

José Pedro Ferreira

Project Group Co-Coordinator

Dr. João P. Ferreira is an aerospace engineer and Ph.D. candidate in Astronautical Engineering at the University of Southern California, supported by a Fulbright fellowship. He specializes in space debris research, contributing to space sustainability efforts.

Dr. Ferreira holds an M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Lisbon, where he graduated with honours. He previously led the INFANTE spacecraft project, Portugal’s first satellite, as Lead Systems Engineer at TEKEVER, and has served as a Guest Lecturer at Setúbal Polytechnic Institute.

His work includes a research internship at NASA Ames, where he developed deep-learning methods for wind tunnel measurements. Dr. Ferreira has published extensively on topics like orbital debris mitigation and satellite technologies, earning multiple awards, including the Young Engineer Innovation Prize. He also plays an active role in the Space Generation Advisory Council.
