Call for 5th NCAC-SGW Event Managers
Join the 5th North and Central American Space Generation Workshop (5th NCAC-SGW)
SGAC is looking for two (2) motivated and committed volunteers to bring their expertise and knowledge to the Manager roles of the 5th North and Central American Space Generation Workshop (NCAC-SGW) which will take place on May 22-23, 2025, in the Canadian Space Agency’s Conference Centre, Longueuil (Greater Montreal area), Canada.
The two-day regional workshop will bring together young professionals and students, and industry representatives to engage and nurture the next generation’s perspective on space and scientific matters in the North and Central American region. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts from academia, businesses, and space agencies through plenary and panel sessions, keynotes and working group discussions. This event will take place right before the SpaceOps 2025 event, taking place in Montreal 26-30 May, 2025.
For the planning of this international event, we are looking for two (2) qualified and young space enthusiasts to join the organising team as Managers.

NCAC-SGW Managers Responsibilities
The NCAC-SGW Managers will work alongside in the preparation of the logistics, programming, communications and overall management of the Space Generation Workshop. This role includes overseeing the development of the event, helping to coordinate the organizing team, and proactively working towards delivering a successful Space Generation Workshop.
The NCAC-SGW Managers are responsible for the implementation of the NCAC-SGW programme and carry the following tasks and expectations:
- Co-leading the Organizing Team in the planning and execution of the NCAC-SGW
- Liaising with the Canadian Space Agency Conferences and events team
- Managing timelines, budget, and resources to ensure successful event delivery
- Organize preparatory activities including program preparation, communications, scheduling, and contact with SGAC supporters, among others
- Coordinating with the SGAC Events Team, Finance Team, BDO and other stakeholders
- Engaging with delegates, speakers, and sponsors to ensure their participation
- Ensuring that SGAC’s guidelines and event standards are followed
- Delivering the event with a very active in-person presence for the entire week of the event.
The SGW Managers will work closely with the SGAC Event Team, Finance Team, Treasurer and BDO.
Estimated time commitment: 10 hours a week + 3 days of the SGW 2025. The amount of time this role requires will increase as the event approaches.
Necessary Qualifications
- SGAC membership: registration on the SGAC website and between 18 and 35 years old by the end of NCAC-SGW;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, quick-turnaround international environment and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work;
- Experience/familiarity with the space sector;
- Teamwork capacity and proven leadership skills. Extensive experience working with volunteers is desirable;
- Strong working knowledge of computer applications, such as the Google Suite (including Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc), and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Canva as well as collaborating tools such as Slack, Zoom, and Teams.;
- Professional Fluency (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) in English;
- Awareness of international cooperation principles, concepts and techniques;
- Cross Cultural and Communication Awareness: Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with people from various international and cultural backgrounds;
- Demonstrated previous event management experience is highly desirable as well as experience with SGAC events.
- Previous experience in fundraising and business development are a relevant plus;
Web, Social Media and Media Design skills are a plus.
