The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) is seeking highly motivated and ambitious volunteers to join the Oversight Task Force (OTF). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the governance and operational excellence of SGAC while developing leadership, communication, and technical skills.

As part of the OTF, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of SGAC’s operations, policies, and member engagement. This is a chance to work with a global team of young space leaders, enhance your professional network, and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, international organization.

Responsibilities

The OTF members will work collaboratively to ensure the effective functioning of SGAC’s operations. Responsibilities vary by role but may include:

  • Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
  • Handling member grievances and ensuring transparent communication.
  • Managing external relations and partnerships.
  • Overseeing social media strategies and communications.
  • Monitoring team productivity and enforcing accountability measures.
  • Providing technical and cybersecurity support for SGAC operations.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Supporting task division and coordination across teams.

This is a general overview of duties. Specific responsibilities will be assigned based on the role and organizational needs.

Estimated Time Commitment: 6 – 8 hours per week (with flexibility during peak periods)

Necessary Qualifications

  • SGAC membership: Registration on the SGAC website and below 34 years of age.
  • Professional fluency (speaking, reading, and writing) in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to respond promptly and efficiently to emails and tasks.
  • Familiarity with the SGAC mission and its objectives.
  • Teamwork capacity and proven leadership skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Apps).
  • Awareness of international cultural cooperation principles, concepts, and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications (Role-Specific):

  • OTF – Communications Interface & Grievances Handling: Experience in conflict resolution, grievance handling, or customer service.
  • OTF – Communication Interface & External Relations:  Background in public relations, partnership management, or stakeholder engagement.
  • OTF – Policy, Compliance & Conflict Resolutions:  Knowledge of policy development, compliance frameworks, or legal principles.
  • OTF – Accountability & Membership Engagements:  Experience in member engagement, accountability systems, or community management.
  • OTF – Social Media & Communications Lead:  Expertise in social media management, content creation, and digital outreach.
  • OTF – Monitoring & Productivity Enforcements:  Skills in project management, productivity tracking, or performance evaluation.
  • OTF – Technical & Cybersecurity Support:  Technical background in IT, cybersecurity, or software tools.
  • OTF – Support & Task Division: Strong organizational and task coordination skills.
  • OTF – Continuous Improvements: Experience in process optimization, quality assurance, or innovation management.

This is a voluntary role with no monetary compensation. Active OTF members are considered for nomination for SGAC Scholarships and Awards, including fee waivers or discounts for SGAC event fees.

Probation Period

All selected candidates will undergo a  3-month probation period as ‘OTF Associates’ to assess their fit for the role and alignment with SGAC’s goals. During this time, candidates will receive mentorship and feedback to ensure their success in the position.
