SGAC Education & Professional Development Coordinator 

Purpose of the Role

Education and Professional Development Coordinators are volunteers who lead and manage a team that organises, provides, and supports education and professional development activities across SGAC. They represent one of the five core pillars of SGAC at the Executive Committee level. This role is part of the Executive Office and reports to the Co-Chairs. The selected candidate will work alongside the current coordinator Faith Tng. 

The key responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Be the central coordination for education and professional development activities across SGAC
  • Represent education and professional development pillar at the Executive Committee level
  • Identify organisational goals, develop synergies, best practices and roadmap to enable SGAC to offer high-quality education, S.T.E.A.M. outreach, and professional development activities to our members
  • Develop shared platforms and resources for various groups within SGAC to organise education and professional development activities 
  • Build awareness of educational and professional development activities offered by SGAC

Responsibilities

Other responsibilities of the Education and Professional Development Coordinators include:

  • Lead key education and professional development programs, such as the mentoring program in accordance with pillar goals/roadmap
  • Support other groups within SGAC in their education and professional development activities
  • Oversee the development of annual reports and work plans of the different education and professional development teams 

Duties

Duties of the Education and Professional Development Coordinators include:

  • Lead monthly meetings with leads of Education and Professional Development programs
  • Attend monthly Executive Committee meetings
  • Contribute to the SGAC annual report, prepare the training pack for use by future project coordinators and prepare an annual Work Plan at the beginning of each year.

Estimated time commitment: 2 – 5 hours per week

Necessary Qualifications

  • SGAC membership: registration on the SGAC website and below 33 years of age
  • Interest in the space sector
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, quick-turnaround international environment and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work
  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork experience
  • Experience in project management roles is preferred
  • Passion in developing educational, outreach, and growth opportunities is preferred
  • Possess good communication skills in English
  • Have the necessary time to monitor the different teams within the pillar and maintain regular communication with them, SGAC Co-Chairs and the Executive Director.
  • Flexible time planning and ready to be proactively involved
  • High degree of self-organisation
  • Cross Cultural and Communication Awareness: Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with people from various international and cultural backgrounds
