The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) is looking for 4 passionate and dedicated volunteers to join the ACHIEVED Academy as Coordination Team Members under the Education & Professional Development (EPD) Platform.
The ACHIEVED Academy is SGAC’s flagship educational program, designed for space enthusiasts, students, and young professionals in science and engineering. It provides a unique opportunity to engage with the space community, build essential industry skills, and establish meaningful connections within the sector.
As a Coordination Team Member, you will play a pivotal role in organizing, promoting, and executing ACHIEVED Academy’s events and activities in line with its three core pillars:
- Engage with the Space Community: Facilitate meaningful interactions with space professionals to inspire and educate Academy participants.
- Networking Opportunities: Foster connections that strengthen relationships and open doors to new opportunities within the space sector.
- Skills Development: Enable participants to gain practical experience and develop competencies in space mission design, operations, and applied science.
This role is ideal for volunteers with experience and passion for program management, event coordination, or space education who are highly motivated to help prepare the next generation of space professionals.
Remark: As one of SGAC’s five fundamental pillars, the EPD Platform has several subteams, each overseen by two team leaders coordinating with the EPD Coordinators. Therefore, the selected candidates will work with and report to the ACHIEVED Academy Team Leaders.
About SGAC’s Education & Professional Development (EPD) Platform:
The EPD Platform is the central coordination arm that organizes, provides, and supports education and professional development activities across SGAC. It aims to serve as a gateway for those interested in starting a career in the space industry, providing various opportunities to gain technical knowledge, receive mentorship, and gain hands-on experience on technical projects. With an unwavering commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, it is an open platform available to the global SGAC Community, providing a wide range of resources and opportunities designed to meet the needs of individuals at different stages of their careers and across all of our regions.
Goals & Objectives
- Collaborate with the other SGAC Pillars and industry partners to offer high-quality education, S.T.E.A.M. outreach, and professional development opportunities.
- Build awareness of educational and professional development activities within and outside of SGAC and improve accessibility to space education.
- Support efforts to translate projects (e.g., hackathons, papers) and launch new EPD initiatives.
Role Descriptions
Communication Coordinators (2 Positions)
The communications team within the ACHIEVED Academy is dynamic, creative, and energized by engaging with participants in innovative ways. As a Communication Coordinator, you are eager to keep Academy members informed and excited about upcoming events, while crafting content that is consistent with SGAC’s communications strategy. From managing social media and internal channels to organizing virtual events and designing engaging visuals, you bring a creative flair to keep participants connected. You may also enjoy using humor and interactive content to build a vibrant community atmosphere outside of technical sessions.
Responsibilities
- Manage social media platforms and internal communication channels to keep students informed and engaged with the Academy’s updates and activities.
- Organize and schedule Zoom calls and other virtual events, ensuring smooth operation.
- Design banners, posters, and regular social media content to promote upcoming Academy events and achievements.
- Maintain engagement through entertaining and interactive content, including meme channels, virtual games, and launch events to boost participation outside technical sessions.
- Act as session moderator once every three sessions, documenting participation and summarizing key highlights – report sent to Project and Student coordinator lead.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Canva, PowerPoint, and similar design and presentation tools.
- Social media management skills and a knack for crafting witty, engaging posts.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to create and maintain dynamic engagement.
- Quick adaptability to digital platforms, with experience in managing multiple communication channels.
Ideal Traits
- Fast, creative, and capable of producing visually appealing content on short notice.
- Effective at maintaining regular updates and communication between the Academy and its participants.
- Energetic and able to generate student engagement outside of technical events.
Estimated time commitment: 4-6 Hours per week.
Period of Performance: January 6th – December 12th, 2025 (possibility to renew for the following year)
The position will have a probationary period of 3 months.
Project and Student Coordinators (2 Positions)
The project and student coordination team is dedicated, organized, and committed to providing participants with an engaging and supportive learning environment. As a Project and Student Coordinator, you are enthusiastic about guiding participants through each stage of the Academy experience, ensuring they feel supported, informed, and inspired. By facilitating sessions, tracking progress, and preparing interactive course content, you help foster a structured, interactive, and enriching experience for all students. You may also have strong attention to detail, ensuring a smooth flow of information and schedules across all Academy activities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee participant engagement and act as session moderators every three sessions, documenting session highlights and participation.
- Prepare assignments, quizzes, and interactive content related to technical courses, ensuring participant comprehension and involvement.
- Keep track of student attendance, engagement, and course progress.
- Ensure that schedules are well-coordinated with team leads, Academy coordinators, and guest speakers, facilitating smooth session transitions and content updates.
- Collect feedback after each session to continually refine and improve the learning experience.
Required Skills
- Competency with Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and Forms for assignment distribution and feedback collection.
- Good organizational and communication skills to ensure timely updates are shared across platforms.
- Experience in course facilitation, with the ability to moderate, report, and maintain a structured learning flow.
Ideal Traits
- Reliable and proactive in coordinating between multiple teams, making sure schedules are synchronized for both speakers and students.
- Detail-oriented and capable of creating an interactive environment within technical sessions.
- Able to engage participants actively, collecting and implementing feedback to enhance each session’s quality.

- Be a registered SGAC member (Individuals can register for free on the SGAC Website).
- Be a citizen of a United Nations Member State.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old during the appointment.
- Professional fluency (speaking, reading, and writing) in English.
