Implementation Officer and Communication Officer (SGAPP)

The Space Generation Advocacy & Policy Platform (SGAPP) is seeking a new Implementation Officer to support the development and implementation of policy and advocacy strategies and a Communication Officer who will manage the platform’s social media presence, maintain website content, and oversee newsletter distribution to promote SGAPP activities and updates.

Implementation Officer (SGAPP)

The SGAPP Implementation Officer will work closely with SGAPP leadership to support the development and implementation of policy strategies at regional levels. This role focuses on coordinating regional task forces based on the NCAC Task Force model, overseeing their establishment and activity alignment with SGAPP’s goals. Key responsibilities include providing strategic guidance to task force leads, ensuring effective regional advocacy actions, and monitoring and reporting on progress. This officer will play a critical role in amplifying SGAPP’s impact by aligning regional activities with SGAC’s, and specifically RC’s, broader objectives.

The core responsibilities of the Implementation Officer include:

  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to regional task force leads, assisting them in planning and executing advocacy initiatives.
  • Oversee the establishment of new regional task forces and facilitate their integration into SGAPP’s policy framework.
  • Review and assess the deliverables produced by divisions, ensuring they meet SGAPP’s standards and objectives.
  • Develop reports and briefings on the progress and impact of regional task forces to inform SGAPP leadership.
  • Support SGAPP Co-Leads in the implementation of advocacy activities at local, regional, and international events and fora.
  • Identify key opportunities for regional engagement, fostering collaborations with external organizations, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication and knowledge sharing between regional task forces and SGAC’s broader policy and advocacy initiatives.
  • Organize and contribute to SGAPP-related events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
  • Stay informed about global and regional space policy trends to provide insights and recommendations for advocacy strategies.

Necessary Qualifications and Skills:

  • SGAC membership: registration on the SGAC website and 33 years of age or less at the moment of the application
  • Demonstrated high-level expertise and experience in space policy
  • Excellent understanding of space policy trends and dynamics
  • Familiarity with SGAC’s mission, objectives, and structure
  • Business/professional fluency in English
  • Ability to respond quickly and efficiently to emails
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven leadership and team-management skills 

Estimated time commitment: this position is for 1 year, with the possibility of renewals. The workload for this position varies according to the SGAPP yearly calendar volunteering and can foresee between 3 to 5  hours of SGAC work per week.

Location: As with all SGAC positions, meetings and work will be conducted virtually. Communication skills and the ability to respond in a timely manner are vital.

 

Communication Officer (SGAPP)

Tasked with shaping SGAPP’s public engagement, the Communication Officer will manage the platform’s social media presence, maintain website content, and oversee newsletter distribution to promote SGAPP activities and updates. This role involves creating engaging content that aligns with SGAPP’s advocacy goals, highlighting key initiatives, policy positions, and member contributions. The Communication Officer will collaborate with SGAC’s central communications team to ensure SGAPP’s messaging is consistent, professional, and resonates with the broader SGAC community and external stakeholders.

 

The core responsibilities of the Communication Officer include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for SGAPP.
  • Manage SGAPP’s social media presence across various platforms, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement.
  • Maintain and update SGAPP’s website with relevant news, policy updates, and member contributions.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of the SGAPP newsletter, ensuring timely updates on key activities and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with SGAC’s central communications team to ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
  • Draft press releases, blog posts, and official statements to promote SGAPP’s advocacy efforts.

  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, including email marketing platforms and basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite).
  • Business/professional fluency in English.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to respond quickly and efficiently to communications.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
