Secure World Foundation is the first recipient of the SpaceGen Ambassador Award
WASHINGTON DC, UNITED STATES, 19 October 2019 – SGAC is very pleased and honoured to announce that the Secure World Foundation, nominated by Ms. Agnieszka Łukaszczyk, Senior Director – European Affairs at Planet, has been selected as the recipient of the 2019 SGAC SpaceGen Ambassador Award!
In the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), the organisation has launched its “SpaceGen Ambassador Award” Award Programme. SGAC wants to acknowledge organisations that deeply care for our generation, our talents, skills and needs – organisations that actively support us as the next generation of space leaders, empowering us as such, enabling us to grow. The award is presented to an organisation from the space sector, either governmental, non-governmental, or private company that demonstrates genuine care for the next generation, actively supporting and empowering young space professionals and students.
The Secure World Foundation has been fully committed to offer opportunities to young people ever since its inception, from being the very first sponsor of the Space Generation Advisory Council to awarding scholarships for students and young professionals to attend the International Astronautical Congress providing opportunities to the next generation of sector leaders in emerging space nations. For this reason, SGAC is thrilled to assign the first edition of this Award to the Secure World Foundation and congratulates the whole Secure World Foundation Team for the efforts and contributions that led to this achievement!
Matteo Emanuelli, SGAC Chair, mentions “The Secure World Foundation has been not only the very first supporter of SGAC but has kept supporting young leaders to attend space conferences. The engagement of SWF with the young generations has been constant and valuable. It is only fair our members had selected SWF to be the first recipient of the SGAC Ambassador Award – a tribute to a unique organisation truly fostering peaceful and sustainable use of space“.
The 2019 SGAC SpaceGen Ambassador Award has been presented during the 18th Space Generation Congress (SGC), 17-19 October 2019 in Washington D.C., United States, at the Space Generation Congress Closing Dinner hosted by the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
SWF Executive Director, Dr Peter Martinez, said “We are extremely proud to be the first recipient of the SpaceGen Ambassador Award. We value our excellent working relationship with SGAC and our mission-aligned goals to promote the peaceful, responsible and sustainable use of outer space in the next generation of space leaders”.
SWF President and Co-Founder, Ms Cynda Collins Arsenault, said “Space Generation best demonstrates the excitement and hope for our future in space. Secure World Foundation is so proud to be a partner and to receive the first SpaceGen Ambassador Award”.
An organisation may receive the award only once and only one award is conferred each year, see you next year for the second edition of the SpaceGen Ambassador Award!
