INTOSPACE – How Small satellites will improve our life

INTO SPACE is a webinar series organized by SGAC Portugal featuring professionals from diverse backgrounds working in the NewSpace ecosystem. It aims to create awareness among students and young professionals about the roles, skills, and values of different NewSpace jobs. The objective is to show that there is space for everyone to get Into Space, independently of the background.
Marco Romero
Marco Romero is Ballistic and Navigation Satellite Specialist Angolan Space Program, who started his career in the Angolan National Air Force as the Aeronautical Engineer. Is the National Point of Contact of SGAC for Angola and National Outreach Coordinator for IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach/National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, Open Cosmos Academy ambassador, ISS Ambassador. Recently doing an Advanced Master in Space System Engineer at ISAE Supaero going further by integrating the European Space Agency Master of Science, Post-Graduation on Human and Robotic Space Exploration and Development Systems (SEEDS) Program. In parallel with the operational space activates he supported development of a Space Education and Outreach Program in Angola that was expanded trough Africa through videos and comic Books, Pico Satellites, STEAM where we can Highlight the 3 Editions of the Space Education Comic Book “Kids and Satellites”.
Working now at Airbus Defence (at the Space Academy), as intern, Studding the utility of Small satellite for Capacity Building specifically studding “the path from CanSat to Space System Engineering in Africa”. Complementary to this internship started an observation Mission at the French Aerospace Valley to explore NanoStar, UFO, Gallatea European programs learn and develop a strategy to implement a Sustainable New space Ecosystem in Africa countries regardless their Space development stage.
Eldrige De Melo
Eldrige de Melo has been working in the space sector for 5 years, he is certified by the Russian Space Agency as a Senior Specialist for the Mission Control Center Ground Control, Experince in working in National Space programs and Big companies in the Space industry such as the Angolan Space Program and Airbus Defense and Space in collaboration with the French Aerospace Valley. He is also an Aerospace Project Management Master at ISAE-SUPAERO and a Commercial Space postgraduate student at Florida Institute of Technology and The International Space University.
José Pedro
José Pedro Ferreira graduated with honours from the Masters in Aerospace Engineering in 2017, where he specialized in smart structures, aerodynamics, and space technology.
He has been trained in concurrent engineering at ESA, and in integration and testing of nanosatellites at ISRO. José also conducted research at Delft University of Technology and at NASA Ames Research Center.
Currently, he is working as a Systems Engineer in the development of INFANTE – the first-ever satellite fully developed in Portugal. José is also an invited professor at Setúbal Polytechnic Institute (IPS), and member of the Center for Product Development and Technology Transfer (CDP2T) of that institute. Furthermore, he is the Co-lead of the Commercial Space Project Group within the Space Generation Advisory Council.
