The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) is excited to announce SG[Portugal] 2025, the very first SGAC event in Portugal! This landmark event will take place on May 17, 2025, in Coimbra, a city renowned as the original knowledge heart of Portugal, home to one of the oldest universities in Europe.

Application Deadline: January 10, 2025, at 23:59 (GMT).

SG[Portugal] 2025 will bring together young professionals, students, and industry leaders to explore the future of the space sector in Portugal and beyond. Through panels, keynotes, and working group discussions, participants will engage with experts from academia, government, and industry to generate actionable insights and foster collaboration in the space sector.

To make this event a success, SGAC is seeking motivated volunteers to join the Organizing Team and contribute their expertise to shape this historic event.

 

Open Positions

Logistics Team (2 Positions)

The logistics team performs much behind-the-scenes coordination to guarantee that all the event venues are well-equipped and fit for a successful event. The team ensures the smooth execution of the event, managing venues, schedules, catering, and other operational details.

The primary responsibilities of the logistics team include the following:

  • Coordinating venue logistics, including setup and operations.
  • Organizing catering, social programs, and post-event activities.
  • Assisting with travel and accommodation arrangements for speakers and delegates.
  • Overseeing on-site logistics during the event.

Estimated Time Commitment: 2–4 hours per week (increased closer to the event).

Requirements

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the performance period)
  • Mandatory attendance at SG[Portugal]
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese
  • Prior experience as a delegate or team in an SGAC Event would be a plus
  • Residency in Coimbra, Portugal, would be a plus

Delegates Team (2 Positions)

The Delegates Team is responsible for coordinating with the SGC delegates throughout all the stages of SG[Portugal], including application, selection, registration, and participation. In addition, the Delegates Team is also responsible for collecting feedback before, during, and after the event. Furthermore, members of this team must be able to provide a quick response rate to questions from the delegates, establishing the communication channels that delegates use to stay up-to-date before and during the event. Lastly, the members of this team are also responsible for executing the in-person registration on the day of the event.

The primary responsibilities of the delegates team include the following:

  • Coordinating with all the SG[Portugal] delegates
  • Acting as the main point of contact for delegate requests
  • Drafting and maintaining the Delegate Handbook in collaboration with the other teams
  • Communicating the event agenda and announcements to the delegates before and during the event

Estimated Time Commitment: 2–4 hours per week (increased closer to the event).

Requirements

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the performance period)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with good grammar and writing skills
  • Ability to provide world-class customer service to delegates and rapidly solve issues
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse environment
  • Mandatory attendance at SG[Portugal]
  • Prior experience as a delegate or team in an SGAC Event would be a plus

Programming Team (2 Positions)

The Programming Team is responsible for developing and managing the content of SG[Portugal]. Therefore, members of the programming team coordinate with SGAC partners to develop the Working Group content, prepare the schedule, define the panel topics, and organize the evening events. 

The primary responsibilities of the programming team include the following:

  • Collaborating with the SG[Portugal] Managers and the Working Group sponsors to develop the Working Group topics and focus questions
  • Serving as the interface between the Working Group sponsors and the delegates. 
  • Creating and maintaining the event schedule 
  • Serving as event moderators throughout the event
  • Identifying and inviting speakers, moderators, and panelists
  • Preparing the event schedule and content for the delegate handbook
  • Collaborating with speakers to ensure their preparation and participation

Estimated Time Commitment: 2–4 hours per week (increased closer to the event).

Requirements

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the period of performance)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with good grammar and writing skills
  • Excellent public speaking skills 
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with senior members of the space sector
  • Interest in developing relevant discussion topics and selecting speakers
  • Mandatory attendance at SG[Portugal]
  • Prior experience as a delegate or team in an SGAC Event would be a plus.

PR & Communications (2 Positions)

The PR & Comms Team is responsible for developing and managing graphics, public relations, and advertising material before and during the event. In addition, this team also prepares and publishes the related reports, documents, and articles. Therefore, members of this team focus on public relations before, during, and after the event, including social media campaigns, photography, and interviews with delegates and external guests.

The primary responsibilities of the PR & Comms team include the following:

  • Managing all media relations and advertising activities before, during, and after the event
  • Creating multimedia content such as graphics and videos
  • Coordinating with the SGAC PR Communication team and European Community Manager to ensure the success of the social media campaigns throughout the event
  • Developing brochures for promotional and organizational materials
  • Leading the editing process for the Event Final Report 

Estimated Time Commitment: 2–4 hours per week (increased closer to the event).

Requirements

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the period of performance)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with good grammar and writing skills
  • Interest in developing social media presence, creating and editing brochures and flyers
  • Experience in photo/videography, video editing, and graphic design (mainly Canva)
  • Experience in writing articles and publications would be a plus
  • Mandatory attendance at SG[Portugal]
  • Prior experience as a delegate or team in an SGAC Event would be a plus
