Drugs in Space

Zoom

Pharmaceuticals (used to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease) suffer from lack of stability on Earth and even more so in space. Over the next few decades, there are plans for human space missions to the Moon and, even further, to Mars. What could be done to limit the degradation of pharmaceuticals (due to time/radiation/altered gravity) during deep space travel to keep the astronaut crew healthy and safe? What about manufacturing drugs in space? How can this knowledge help us to fight diseases here on Earth? And, of course.. What is it like to be a space pharmacist? We have invited Dr. Marlise Araujo dos Santos (a Brazilian space pharmacology expert) and Paul Kamoun to inform us on the challenges and opportunities within the space environment.

The role of space in climate action

Zoom

SGAC recently released a report titled "Saving Our Future on Earth Through Our Presence in Space," which details SGAC's policy position on the role of space in climate action. To support this effort, we are hosting a webinar on climate change, environment, and space. Speakers will discuss their work in using space applications in climate monitoring and research and the intersection of space and sustainability. During the webinar, panelists will share their ideas and expertise on environmental issues, and engage with our audience through a Q&A session.

SSA through Optical Sensors – Observatory Development using COTS Equipment

Zoom

Proliferating space debris is the paramount global challenge that the space community is facing. At present, there is no global space traffic management system and there is a serious lack of consensus on sensitive thresholds when it comes to conjunction analysis and collision avoidance.

Benefit Sharing of Lunar Resource Activities for Africa: analysing the regional and international contexts

Zoom

The webinar will be part of the International Moon Day weekly events. A panel will be organized with representatives of the Moon Village Association (lead by Suyan Malhadas and Chris Bosquillon)and the SGAC Space Law and Policy Project Group “Commercialization of Space Resources in Africa” project (lead by Jéssyka Nunes and Nifemi Awe). Over one hour, four speakers will cover 4 presentations, with half an hour afterwards allocated to questions from participants.

Space Career Pathways & Speed Mentoring Workshop

SPACEtacular: An interstellar collaboration between PhilSA, BatStateU – AEROESS, and SGAC

Zoom

The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), the Batangas State University (BatStateU) - Aerospace Engineering Students' Society (AEROESS), and the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) have joined forces to hold the very first online webinar dubbed “SPACEtacular”, which will take students, researchers, and other young space enthusiasts on an exciting opportunity to learn about the recent advancements in space technology, research, and innovation. This interstellar collaboration will embark on the overview of the Philippine Satellite Program and will uncover the fundamental concepts on lean satellite missions and utilization, small satellite systems engineering, and the general satellite project management process to be delivered by Filipino engineers who pioneered in the development of the Philippine’s small satellites. Join us as we learn their incredible achievements in promoting and sustaining a robust Philippine space ecosystem that adds and creates value in space for and from Filipinos and for the world.
