Meet ESGW 2023 – Organising Team

The ESGW 2023 Organising Team comprises individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise, each bringing a unique perspective to the table. Ada Ranieri and Giuliana Rotola led the way as Event Managers, setting the stage for our collective efforts. The Coordination Team, including Francesco Ventre, Antonia Kardamaki, and Nikolena Christofi, played a crucial role in ensuring the seamless coordination of our ambitious plans. The Communication Team, composed of Rebecca Harwin, Preve Chobert, and Nadia Mirza-Saadi, helped us reach a wider audience and connect with fellow space enthusiasts. The Program Team, consisting of Alvaro Menduina, Florian Kuegerl, and Salman Ali Thepdawala, designed the intellectual heart of the event, shaping discussions for the Working Groups and panels. Our Logistics Team, with members Ilaria Pia Fiore, Luca Aldini, Davide Paparella, and Augusto José Silvestre de Lima, ensured that every logistical detail was taken care of. The Delegates Team, represented by Zhen Cahilog and Leonor Teles, played a pivotal role in making sure our participants felt welcomed and engaged.

ESGW 2023 – Organising Team’s role as part of the SGAC team:

The ESGW 2023 Organizing Team took on the significant task of planning and executing a significant regional space workshop. Our mission was to create an environment where over 100 students and young professionals could gather and discuss the current and future opportunities in the European space sector, all while focusing on promoting sustainability.

It all started when Ada, as part of the ESGW 2022 Organizing Team in Cyprus, witnessed the impact of such an event and how it could illuminate the space sector, even in regions where it’s less prominent. She reached out to Giuliana, fellow Bari native and active SGAC member, and together, they embarked on the formidable task of preparing a bid proposal to host the event in their hometown in only one month.

Hosting E-SGW in southern Italy, an area not traditionally associated with the space sector, demonstrates that space can play a pivotal role in promoting sustainable development and inspiring local communities. Our initiative showcases how space can be a catalyst for positive change, even in less-developed regions.
