SGAC is proud to present the September 2021 Member of the Month!

SGAC Membership has been steadily growing throughout the years and among our teams there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who are being recognised for their hard work and contributions to the organisation. Continuing the amazing efforts SGAC members and events organizing teams have provided the network with, for September 2021, we are pleased to announce and congratulate: Abraham Akinwale – Member of the Month, September 2021!

Meet Abraham Akinwale

Abraham Akinwale is the Human Resources Co-Coordinator and the Recruitment Lead for the Space Generation Advisory Council. He is an Alumni of Obafemi Awolowo University where he studied Mechanical Engineering and recently he graduated from the prestigious International Space University. Abraham is an entrepreneur and the Co-Founder of MPG Aerospace, a drone manufacturing startup. He was the Event Manager for the first African Space Generation Workshop 2017 and also a recipient of the Space Generation Leadership Award 2018. He was a facilitator for the SGAC and African Leadership Youth Forum 2018 which enabled participation of over 25 SGAC members with the sponsorship of the African Union. He is very much dedicated to developing space activities in Nigeria and beyond, promoting space applications and setting startups in the Region. Abraham loves football, an Arsenal fan and loves cooking during his free time.

Your first thoughts on receiving this award:

I was surprised to receive the email for the award at the time it came. Came at a good time though. This nomination of this award actually makes me realise more how important it is to appreciate people for the work they do. I am more encouraged that the work we do on the HR Team is more important than ever and We have to continue to appreciate others no matter how small we believe their works to be. The Team we have at SGAC is what is making us a successful organization. 

Your role as part of the SGAC team

I work on the Team as the HR Coordinator and also the Recruitment Lead. I support the Team by making sure all the Recruitment processes are handled fairly and justly and everyone has a fair chance to be appointed for the positions they apply for. I work with the Onboarding Team for onboarding and offboarding of members, Membership Management to sort out awards, Recruitment for Team applications and the Web Team for uploading and handling HR Web vacancies.

What learnings have you got for those considering joining SGAC? 

This is the best organization to be part of. You get a chance to have your voice heard, connect with like minded people, create connections and friendships that last a lifetime. I have made huge progress in my career as a result of being part of this prestigious organization. It’s all about the people. We must never forget that.
