SGC Scholarships

SGAC and its partners host a number of scholarships for students and young professionals to attend the Space Generation Congress (SGC) 2025 and or the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2025. SGAC would like to thank these partners for their support.

To achieve a sustaining industry in human spaceflight it needs a commercially viable scenario, and we want you on board this exciting challenge!

Apply for the 2025 Space Generation Leadership Award!

One of the goals of the Space Generation Congress (SGC) is to provide an opportunity for interaction between members of the space sector with diverse geographic and technical backgrounds. To enable those members of the SGAC community without sources of funding to attend the event, and recognize our active members, SGAC has been running the Space Generation Leadership Award (SGLA). The Award recognises outstanding members of the SGAC community who have contributed (or continue to contribute) actively to the SGAC and go above and beyond their role to ensure SGAC’s success.

Through the SGLA, SGAC commits to bringing insightful perspectives to the Space Generation Congress by facilitating the attendance of outstanding international delegates. Therefore, the SGLA selects 5 top applicants to attend the 23rd Space Generation Congress (25 – 27 September, 2025) and the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) (29 September – 3 October, 2025) in Sydney, Australia.

The award will support 5 top applicants to attend the following events in Sydney, Australia:

  • 23rd Space Generation Congress: 25 – 27 September, 2025
  • 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC): 29 September – 3 October, 2025

The grant will be provided as total or partial reimbursement to cover:

  • Round trip travel costs to Sydney, Australia via economy airfare
  • Lodging at the official SGC hotel, or equivalent
  • Visa costs (if any)
  • Space Generation Congress registration fee
  • International Astronautical Congress registration fee
  • Local transportation
  • Meals

SGLA Application Requirements

Be aware! Previous recipients of the Space Generation Leadership Award or the Global Grant Programme to attend SGC and IAC, and/or SGFF and Space Symposium are not eligible to apply. 

Requirements:

  • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the period of performance)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with good grammar and writing skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Dynamism and organisational skills
  • Interest in working with international cultures and diverse backgrounds
  • Prior experience as moderator of other events or in attending a SGAC Event is preferred

Liability

  • Organisers shall not be responsible in the event that SGC 2025 and/or IAC 2025 is cancelled. 
  • Organisers shall not be responsible in the event that the award winner fails to attend SGC 2025 and/or IAC 2025 or is unable to under extenuating circumstances; in such a case the award offer shall become void.
  • Organisers shall not be responsible in the event that the award winner cannot obtain any necessary travel documents (visas etc). If such required documents are not obtained prior to planned travel, the award shall become void.
  • The award is non-transferable and not valid for another event or individual.
  • Following the Reimbursement Guidelines, in the event that event or travel cannot take place due to unforeseeable circumstances (force majeure), including but not limited to illness, death, or weather, the Scholarship Holder will be responsible to try to recover costs through any available travel insurance or trip cancellation insurance. SGAC may reimburse the remaining amount not covered by insurance.

 

Apply for the 2025 Nebula Award!       

Thanks to the generous donation of a SGAC Alumnus, SGAC will bring a selected group of students or young professionals to attend the to attend the 23rd Space Generation Congress (25 – 27 September, 2025) and the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) (29 September – 3 October, 2025) in Sydney, Australia. 

The award will support a selected group of applicants to attend the following events in Sydney, Australia:

  • 23rd Space Generation Congress: 25 – 27 September, 2025
  • 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC): 29 September – 3 October, 2025

The grant will be provided as total or partial reimbursement to cover:

  • Round trip travel costs to Sydney, Australia via economy airfare

  • Space Generation Congress registration fee
  • International Astronautical Congress registration fee

Nebula Award Application Requirements

Be aware! Previous recipients of a Nebula Award for SGC/IAC, SGFF and Space Symposium are not eligible to apply. 

Requirements:

    • SGAC Membership (free registration on the SGAC website required, and aged 18-35 years old during the period of performance)
    • The scholarship is open to all students and young professionals from any country
  • Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously attended a SGC
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with good grammar and writing skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Dynamism and organisational skills
  • Interest in working with international cultures and diverse backgrounds
  • Winners should not receive support from any other source to the event. Should the winners receive such support midway through the program, SGAC should be informed and a solution will be sought

Nebula Award Winner Responsibilities

Be aware! This scholarship is meant to mainly support attendants to the SGC. Paper presentations, or any other commitments for IAC are not a requirement.  

Responsibilities:

  • Attend the entire 23rd Space Generation Congress 
  • Support the running of the 23rd Space Generation Congress. These tasks offer great opportunities such as being the rapporteur of a 23rd Space Generation working group and helping with writing a group report.
  • Contribute to the SGC 2025 final report
  • Submit a short video (1 min) and 1-page report (excluding pictures) describing their experience at the 23rd Space Generation Congress for inclusion on the SGAC website, newsletter or social media and that of our partners. Example of content: speakers that were particularly interesting, group discussions that stood out or other event highlights.

SGC 2025 Application Form

To be able to apply for the SGC 2025 you must be a member of SGAC. If you are not a member, please register at  https://spacegeneration.org/register. The SGAC registration and membership is free.

Please note there is only one joint application form for the SGLA and Nebula Award scholarships. Winners will be selected for each scholarship based on their scholarship video submissions and delegate application.
